Its just so fab to see the talent we've got back there + coming through and then you think of the age if keep them together for nxt 5yrs, that defence will just b another level from anyone around, if bobby could just get out there and find a young keeper who still got 10 - 15yrs ahead of him then what a building block for the team, finally someone is building for the future
100% this.

wow, my god that's great to read.

regarding the contract thing, why are clubs so eager to offer players new contracts all the time? we seem to be renewing players' contracts every season!

is it really needed? i mean he's not going anywhere, he's utterly fantastic, he'll be within the england squad within the next 3 or 4 years i think. But why with the new contract talk already? i doubt he's going to be sulking thinking he's not getting reaped rewards after just 6 games.

anyway, he's turning into one of my fave players. he was a tad iffy against city, but to be expected, doesn't bother me, love his confidence, i love what he says about no respect. It's like 50 cent in get rich or die trying "show no love, love will get you killed".

Stops teams like Chelsea coming in and just taking a punt on him for a derisory figure because he's in the last years of his contract. Imagine we'd left Stones thinking 'he's only young, he's not going anywhere' Chelsea could have picked him up for a tiny amount. Instead we tied him down early and so could repel huge fees. I think it's good to see the club rewarding young players rather than giving ridiculous contracts to new signings or old has beens (mind you we still do that enough)

Yes. I also remember Phil Thompson saying with young players they would give them a new Contract Each season, giving them a pay increase. It shows them that they are being rewarded for their continued development, keeps their loyalty up and gives them assurances.

In reality we should not be paying 20 year olds the same as we would pay seasoned pro's. That method does not work. the fact Liverpool were willing to pay Sterling 100k per week shows how far they've changed. However if you are going to have younger players on a relatively lower wage, you do need to review it on a season by season basis.

I'm delighted Galloway is getting a new Contract. Don't be surprised though if he gets another one in twelve months if he cements himself into the first team. It's all about incentivising young players but also having a meritocracy.

There should be some caution with Galloway. Remember Liverpool fans going nuts about Gomez after 1 good game and in the last two he has been badly exposed and he suddenly looks a player well out of his depth at premier league level.

Having said that, something seemed to click with him yesterday. When you are a young player there is always that penny drops moment, that you realise you can do it. In previous games he had been solid but quite uninspiring. He tended to play very close to the centre backs and keep tihngs simple. He wasn't playing badly but he was filling in and "doing a job" for want of a better word. It's clear looking at the Chelsea game he was also playing within himself.

Against City he was exposed. It might sound odd but sometimes being exposed like that can be the best thing to happen to a young player. It gives them a reminder of the level they are required to get to. You also learn more in 40 minutes against David Silva, or Sterling or Aguero than you might in 6 months of training.

In the intervening couple of weeks he has obviously gone away and worked things through mentally for himself. Against Chelsea he was outstanding. He got forward very well and didn't always look for the easy pass inside. It was a joy to watch him carry the ball forward with power and pace. He was also far more physical in his defending. Finally the fact he was marking Costa off corners says an awful lot for his own confidence.
IT was an outstanding performance for a 19 year old against the league champions in his 6th game.

His interview with the Echo is fantastic. He's not just saying the right things, but he is going beyond what the general club claptrap is. He is very confident and has high expectations of himself. I think we are fostering a number of "winners" in our youth teams who have scant disregard for their opponents. It is very refreshing to see and will serve the club well.

It might of helped you find somewhere to live and get fed when you go bankrupt though.
Edit:- (Talking about 50c obvs, not you TJ :) )

he's played well in every game bar the champions elect which is what i'm basing it on. against a few very decent teams as well - given that he's out of position and 19.

our same fans were reacting the same as liverpool fans with gomez after city. just the nature of society these days.

On the BBC sport football home page, top of the Feature and analysis list is the title 'Who should Chelsea have tried to sign?' with a picture of Galloway. You'd think with all of the sport that goes on around the world, they could find something other than selling Everton players to talk about.

I think Galloway has done very well. I did not join in any slagging off of him even after the City game. It is important to be supportive with young players and look for the positives. However longer term, it is also worth noting what improvements can be made.

Pre City I think he played within himself. Against City he was shown up a bit against a fantastic team. Post City (albeit only 1 game) he has really come out of his shell. That was the gist of what I was trying to say.

The same process happened with Stones. He looked quite nervous to start, and against Liverpool when he was on for a brief cameo was a little hesitant. He soon overcame that. I think Galloway will become a lot more confident, move forward far more and be far more bullish in tackles as he gets more game time.

Everton are to offer Brendan Galloway a lucrative new contract to reward his rapid rise into the first-team. The 19-year-old defender has made six starts for the Blues after breaking into the senior set-up at the end of last season. Galloway was outstanding in Everton’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday and provided the cross for Steven Naismith to score the first of his three goals.

And now, Everton will try and tie Galloway down to a fresh long-term deal to reflect his growing status at the club. A number of leading Premier League clubs are understood to be keeping tabs on the teenager’s progression and so Everton are keen to sort his future out in the coming days. Galloway signed a four year deal when joining from MK Dons in August, 2014. The Blues fended off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs for his signature and are keen to ensure his future remains at Goodison.

Roberto Martinez had planned to send Galloway out on loan this season but the teenager’s performances throughout pre-season changed his mind. Earlier this season, Martinez said: “I think Brendan is ready to play left-back at this level,” said the Blues boss. “After 50 games he could play centre-half. “At the age that he is, 19, every day is an improvement and every day he’s getting better.”

Double good news !! He's classy, get the lad signed up Blues.

But the 19-year-old believes every Blues player deserves credit and says the key to victory was them refusing to be overawed by the Premier League champions.

“We know what we can do and we don’t fear anyone, especially when they come to Goodison,” declared Galloway. “They may have been the champions but we didn’t give them that respect. “We shouldn’t give anyone any respect, especially in games at Goodison. “We always know what we are capable of, we do it everyday in training, and we’ve started the season well. “To carry that on into this match was really important and we did that.” And on Naismith’s heroics, Galloway added: “He was unbelievable and to get a hat-trick against the champions is something special. “We all performed and put in a shift but Naisy was extra special.”

Galloway returned to the Everton side on Saturday following a knee injury. The teenager was making his sixth Premier League start for Everton after emerging as the Blues’ understudy to Leighton Baines last season. Just over 12 months ago, Galloway was playing for the club’s under-21s after joining from MK Dons but insists he has not been unsettled by the speed of his progression.

“I don’t feel any pressure because I train with top class internationals everyday so when it comes to the match, it is not new,” he said. “I don’t like to show anyone any respect. They might be the champions but we are on the same pitch for a reason. “I’m still young and still learning and hopefully I can get to that next stage. “I want to keep on working hard. “I’m humble. I have good parents who keep me grounded, which is important to me, and my sisters and cousins do that as well.
“I know what I am achieving but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself because I want to keep on improving.”

Galloway has now faced flying wingers Jesus Navas and Pedro in the space of a few weeks but says he never feels nervous before any game. “I don’t feel nervous,” Galloway added. “I prepare myself well and listen to my music to calm my nerves.
“When it kicks-off it’s just a game and you focus on doing the best for your team. “You forget everything else and who you are playing against. “The manager and the staff help us with that as well.”

What a phenomenal attitude, no pun intended ;)

Most of our young players are used to winning things (in the current set up) with Everton and indeed with England, often against older lads. They are also used to hammering Liverpool. This arrogance being brought into the first team will serve us well.
I said this in an unrelated post last season when things were going awry - RM needed to start bringing through these young players and allow them to grow and develop a style based on arrogance. As long as it is not misplaced and is fully deserved then the beneficiaries of this new, young breed will be the club and its fans. Kids nowadays seem to develop a confidence in their abilities much sooner than most of our generation (on the presumption that a lot of you guys are in the 35-40+ age range) and this can be seen and heard in the type of music most listen to where it's all about having 'face'. As well as recognising and nurturing this young talent we are also adept at selecting lads who have solid family backgrounds and are level-headed and who wont be easily overawed by situations or opponents. This is testimony to the Manager and his scouting/backroom staff. Keep these boys together and we could just be looking at the beginnings of our long awaited dynasty. And then we will back to worrying whether we can keep hold of RM!
