Young Brendan has seriously impressed me this season.
Sure, he's still a bit raw and will make the odd mistake, but let's give the lad the credit he deserves - he's not a left back by choice, had the role more or less thrust upon him with Luke out at Fulham and both Bainsey and Oviedo out injured, but he hasn't bottled it at any time and has not let anybody down.
Very much part and parcel of our youthful, exuberant future and seems genuinely happy to be part of the club.

.......I have to admit to being less nervous about Barkley. Not sure how long he's got to go on his contract but at this point he just doesn't seem the type to want away even if the big boys start calling. I might be very wrong, but the likes of Stones, Lukaku and even Galloway appear more cosmopolitan in seeing a big world out there.

tend to agree mate, but until he signs there will always be the doubt, plus longer he goes without selling then the media will start all the spin about him leaving soon enough.

Plus always have that question mark until he does about if he decides to change his agent etc as they will be sniffing around him the longer it's left

.....I don't think we can assume that CB will be his best position at 1st team level. The lad's future might well be at LB. My only slight concern with him as a top flight CB is his lack of bulk. He's only young and might fill out, he might also have enough class to overcome physicality (like Stones) but I think of him up against somebody like Lukaku and wonder if he might struggle.

Time will tell but he's a tremendous young footballer and I'm chuffed he's with us.

A lot i guess will depend on how he fills out over the next 2-3 years mate, he's already shown himself as a more than capable left back at this level though, so going to be interesting what position he ends up at.

This "Fab Four" term should really be "Phenomenal Five". I liked the way Martinez came out and commented that hes now a first team player and deserves a new contract + also seeks to extend and improve contracts for his stars each season...

Martinez comments will I feel impact more on Baines. Roberto has already said Baines will not start against Norwich, but will be in the squad. He is either bringing Baines back to full action very carefully, or has a dilemma as to who to start at left back. Both situations may be currently true, but sooner or later Martinez has to decide who his first choice is, and I do not believe it is cut and dried to be Baines.

Nah think it is cut and dry Baines mate, unless he has gone back seriously when out, lets face reality, galloway has been good - nothing more than that and if he was 26yo we wouldn't be raving about it, it's his age and lack of experience which makes his 'good' performances look even better. Baines has had many years of being far more than 'good' he is one of the top players in his position in world football

.....RM will be chatting with Baines, confidence in the ankle appears to be an issue. I think the opposition is also a contributing factor, Palace had threat from out wide as does Norwich if Redmond plays. I'd be surprised if Baines isn't still viewed as no1 no3 and will start one of the games at home.

Annoyed if he starts tomorrow. Surely it's time to get our first choice left back in the starting XI.
