Apparently Man City lease them their old training ground for free and they’ve still pissed it all up the wall. So people have tried to help. Not sure how much truth is in that though.

End of the day if the owners are that bad they don’t deserve to get bailed out. Awful for the fans but life is hard like.

Yep we gave them a completely rent free deal on our old training ground / facility at Carrington in 2014 which at the going rate was worth £80K per year. Part of the deal was that they had to maintain it to an acceptable standard - which they didn't. The training pitches had not been maintained, they had numerous break ins due to a lack of security and they even had the water turned off at one point. City didn't want to evict them but they simply ignored repeated warnings. The rent free deal means they have received circa £400K in aid from us to date. It's hard to have any sympathy with the club when this is allowed to happen.

The current charlatan of an owner is an insolvency practitioner - which tells you all you need to know about his reasons for buying the club in the first place. From all reports he has milked it dry.

The Bury owner tried to buy Widnes Vikings earlier on this year when they were in administration but got knocked back when he wouldn’t show proof of funds to the administrators. Rumour at the time that it was him and the local council who were in talks so he could buy the ground off the council. The council wanted £8million for the stadium. The plan was to move Widnes out and bring Bury to play here for a couple of seasons then sell the ground off to housing companies. Both sides went as far as negotiating with a housing firm to buy the stadium but in the end nothing came of it. Lucky escape for Widnes in the end but shows how he’s just in it for financial gains.

The EFL Board has this afternoon been appraised of the very latest position in respect of ongoing matters at Bury Football Club.
As of 5pm there has been limited progress made either by the current ownership providing the required evidence in regard to outstanding financial information, or through a change of control being achieved with new owners.

The EFL will continue to provide all support available and will keep working to find a resolution to the ongoing issues ahead of the Notice of Withdrawal deadline, which remains at 11.59 PM on Friday 23 August.
If a successful solution is not found ahead of tonight’s deadline, the Club’s share in the EFL will be withdrawn and its membership in the League will come to an end.
The EFL will move to confirm the position as soon as possible, with an update to be provided on Saturday 24 August.

The owner has just been on 5 Live.

Not even a football supporter. Swore blind that all the players had been paid, and would be paid next week, despite the club captain saying just last week they havnt been paid since Feb. Would you trust the word of a footballer or a shady owner?

I was listening this morning to someone from the media in Manchester who had just had an interview with the owner, he was told by him that he had found buyers and that that consortium were presented to the EFL and they were going through due diligence of the proposed buyers, did the owner mention anything of that in the interview you listened to roydo?

Not that I heard. He did mention he was working hard etc etc, and it was all the EFL's fault basically.

I just wish these interviews, which he isnt shy of to be fair, would ask him some detail about the debt repayments he has apparently been paid, even though he never actually loaned the money in the first place. Also, who, or what, actually owns the ground.

He was banging on about (on 5 Live) that he wanted he use Carrington (which Man City own but let Bury use it rent free) for his charitable work........hmmmm. Its all so murky.

Agree 100%

I think the sad thing about getting these interviews mate is that the interviewer is probably told beforehand what they can ask and can't ask.

Steve dale's been associated with 51 companies and 43 went into liquidation, how the hell did he get in control of bury.

If my understanding is correct, he paid £1 so the former owners could run away, but being an expert in insolvency, (apparently), he knew that if he then took the status as creditor, and went under a CVA, he would receive 25% of the value of the debts, (not sure how much that was, but more than £1 would be my guess).

I might be 100% wrong, and he is a bloke with zero interest in football, has said he had never been to Bury, and just wanted to help out.
