The boys got no fire in the belly, hes a follower not a leader

What better way to try and mold him into a leader then? Ross as a player could be so much more if he just found that inner confidence and expressed it without fear. Sorry for saying this but I can't help but feel that there's a person very similar to what Gerrard is/was inside him trying to get out.

You don't learn it, you have it or you don't. As much as i despised gerard he was a pure snide, rose to the occasions and led. Its one thing ross hasn't got, too weak mentally

Jags appears to be the best of the current bunch regarding captain material. A good and much overlooked defender, but far too meek for my liking. I'd like his replacement - when it occurs - to be a real nasty bast who will skin you like the Predator, and then hang you from a tree if you don't pull your weight on the pitch.

I'd actually try macarthy as a captain might improve him tbh

To be honest, I think McCarthy's main task will be to try and regain his status in the side first after the way he played last season. New players may put him behind the 8 ball on that as well. The Jagielka thread last season expanded regarding the skipper... Jags was possibly the best of a non too vocal group of players. Ross too probably needs to concentrate on upping the ante and being back to his personal best without being encumbered with captain's duties on the pitch. No doubt though, we could do with someone who can get the team by the scruff of the neck when the chips are down and also be a bit of a snarler and shout the odds to protect our leads....someone we haven't got at present.

I don't think the captaincy sits easily with Jags. Ross has to concentrate on his own performances next year as does McCarthy and Stones, Baines and Coleman are too quiet. I think we are going to have to buy one. Barry will need resting in games next season.

Ross is too silent. It should be a respected senior pro and Jags is the one. After that Barry or Baines at a push though I doubt he really wants it.

I think for me if jagielka is in the team he should be captain,if not I would say stones but it depends on his attitude after the euros.Ross is not ready.
