2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

What you arent taking into account is that A. Spurs, Wolves and Burnley all ahve good teams (Burnley very much a collective rather than individuals). We do not. We also had some tricky games and had nothing to play for against Wolves, Sheff Utd and Bournemouth.

Had we beat Bournemouth we'd have been 8th, so its only the last 2/3 games that saw us drop down, after our season was finished.

CA is one the best in the world, proven fact, not "could be, not has potential" He is.

CA Had us in top 3/4 form beofre lockdown, to top 7 form and the down to top 10 form after our season had already been finished without Europe.

ALL without having a single performing midfielder. Not one. Allof them have been awful, even Bernard who does have some technical ability has been annonymous post lockdown. Tom Davies is stealing a living, Delph has been permanetnly injured, Gomes has and still looks like the injury has affected him (all be it with some glimpses of promise). Iwobi annoynmous. Theo, well theo has been OK.

Judge CA on the next seasons with some of his players coming in. To those comparing CA with BFS, sort yourself out. BFS has achieved very little in his career and enjoys his reputation as a 'firefigther' and the pay offs that come with it. He did the job that was expected of him, 12th to 8th with stabilising the team.

CA has won the lost. Honestly if you can't get behind Carlo Ancelotti or want to spend the whole time criticizing everything he does. Then you should stop supporting Everton. im 28, we have achieved nothing in my lifetime and this is a huge step forward, the BEST manager i will ever see in the dugout. Be greatful, some of us weren't alive when Everton were the best.

We need stability, we need a proven winner and most of all CA will need time. Not just from the club but from the fans. Sacking managers every season doesn't work.

Ranieri came in and won the league with a squad much worse than Everton's.

Not really relevant, but still interesting. As what Carlo have tried to do is more or less a carbon copy of what Ranieri did with Leicester. One big F you to Klopps gegenpress and a Peps tica taca. We dont care about having the ball. We care about results. And good luck to you trying to break down our old-fashioned Italian 4-4-2 tactics.

One difference is that Ranieri had success with it using a midfield two with Kante and Drinkwater. While Carlo has tried the same tactics using Drinkwater and Drinkwater.

Fantastic job by Ranieri. But teams learned how to break down his defence and the team was a joke without Kante. His second season they fighted to avoid relegation and he was fired in February. I seriously doubt that success with his tactics is possible in 2020.

I am not having a go at Carlo. I just say that he most improve and that performances have been under par. Everton have done better the last 20 matches 12 of the last 15 seasons.

Hahahahahaha what? No. They had a 20 goal a season striker, one of the best wingers in Europe and the best defensive midfielder on the planet at the time. All the paragraphs in the world won’t make the absolute tripe you’re typing make sense.

Have you ever worked in recruitment?

I agree in that the crux is you need very good players to play the 442 in the modern game - something we dont have.

My fear is this summer we either dont back Carlo to the hilt or Brands signs more dossers and we struggle again and Carlo leaves.

The board and Brands simply have to deliver at the minimum 4-5 very good additions to that starting 11 next season if we have hopes of European football.

No more arsing around chasing bums on deadline day - get the targets in now and have them with Carlo for pre season.

Correct.

They did have some average players, but they also had a solid spine of the team, the best teams do. Had Morgan and Huth playing at their maximum, all be it not brilliant players it worked. Kante, Mahrez and Vardy all hitting form.

Here's the thing, his choices are limited. Let's take your central midfield issue. His choice in the last phase of the season was one of the following combinations: Davies and Gomes, Davies and Sigurdsson or Gomes and Sigurdsson. Somebody has to play in those positions and those are the players available to him. If Baningime and Adenerin can't even get on the field in that situation, they can't be anywhere near premier league standard.

What would you have him do?
When he does not have a single midfielder available that can do well in a midfield 2, he could consider utilizing a midfield 3? Like 80% av the teams in the league does. We know that Sigurdsson, Davies and Gomes all can do better in a midfield 3.

Everyone blames the players and I agree, they are not good enough. But it does not help their case that they are outnumbered every single game.

We don’t have a midfielder that knows what a tackle is. Imagine if Leicester had swapped Mahrez, Kante and Vardy for Iwobi, Davies and DCL, they’d have gone unbeaten wouldn’t they.

Utter creeps infesting this forum.

Mate you really think it‘s that easy? Play 3 in cm and problems sort?

I know mate. I'd still take Vardy as well.

The squad is a mess, i'm not sold on Brands yet, but he's STILL having to shift the absolute mess that was left with him from Walsh and Koeman. We hopefully will see the benefit of Brands in 3/4 years time.

For now we have to back CA to clean up the players, get his group in and make progress. If you can't back one of the greatest managers ever, then good luck to you.

CA is one the best in the world, proven fact, not "could be, not has potential" He is.
It is also a proven fact that Bayern Munchen and Napoli rapidly did worse the 18 months they had Ancelotti in charge. And they have improved massively since getting rid.

Ancelotti is a great manager. A great man. But he should not be beyond criticism.

Allardyce did better. With a worse squad.

no, because it’s about a system and an identity;he wants a 442 so he plays so those who step up to the plate stay, the others will be binned

it’s quite simple really. But what does all conquering Carlo Ancelotti know, when @caliblue has all the answers

Fair play to Drinkwater too. Was fantastic that season and earned a transfer to Chelsea.

They were far better than we are now.

60 points get you 6th. I project that if Carlo gets a full season with 38 games. You must get a U from Gcse maths orly. You deserve Roberto.

30 points from 20 games is not half a season though is it buddy. It's 1.5 ppg. Or 38 x1.5 = 57 points - 8th. Not 5th -7th. And the team we pushed down won a trophy.

Well done for making yourself look a fool again haha.
