So Marcel Brands has worsened our squad then in two years? I suggest you get on his thread and slam him for spending 200 mill for making us worse......

I have said im not sold on Brands, but a DOF does more than just transfers and we will see the true affect of his arrival in 2/3 years time. He must have been informed by the scouting/medical teams that Mina, Delph had injury records and we've seen very little of them really so I am sceptical. I also don't believe we'd have CA without him though.

What is a mystery to me is how Tom Davies still gets a game. I have no idea who to blame, is it Brands, is it the managers saying he's decent? is it the board saying he's am local lad?

Nah he'll be a bench player next year.

Realistically, who on earth is gonna bid 15 or 20m for him?

We can't give him away for nothing and take a massive hit on the accounts.
They will get 8-10 mil tops but they need to take it and take the hit. He’s a big earner so keeping him on will cost millions in wages plus his value goes down more.

I hope @caliblue sticks at this. Talking a lot of sense and it feels a bit like the early days of second season Martinez when only very few of us could see the incoming disaster.

No one should escape the scrutiny. Not least the players of course, but also Brands and Ancelotti, neither of whom have covered themselves in glory.

Vardy was a 5 goal midfielder when they hired Ranieri. 5 goals in 34 his first PL season.

Mahrez had not shown much promise. 3 goals and 4 assists.

Kante was a £4M buy from the second league in France. He started the season on the bench and got his first matches as a wide midfielder.

But all 3 have gone on to prove to be fantastic players under various managers.

I’m all for Carlo Andy but you can’t say “if we had beat Bournemouth blah blah blah” because we didn’t. Managers careers are built on some games. Carlos certainly wasn’t against Bournemouth but ifs and buts don’t work in football because you’re judged on where you finish at the end of the season. Let’s give CA a summer to get some players in and see what he does then with formation and player selection. If he’s still putting sig centre mid then we can have a go. Same with iwobi on the right (maybe even on the left) but we need to see what he does next season first I agree. Ifs and buts though are useless. Terrible performance to end the season on

Sorry, what I was saying is that that table can change dramatically based upon 1 or 2 results, so we can say 7th, or 10th, but ultimately its a fine margin.

Bottom line for me is these players have downed tools for three managers now. One of whom is so well respected within the game, if you cant be arsed playing for a guy who is reknown for his man management and warm personality towards them, then what is their character like?

We have to stop constantly hitting the manager when the players on the ptich have PROVEN they aren't arsed no matter whos in charge. Silva should have gone as he wouldn't change things.. However i do have some sympathy for him as these lot just aren't bothered.

We've seen very little of Mina? 30 games this season...

42 games in two seasons according to soccerway... He's injury prone. 25 starts this season. That isn't much reall. Less than half the games started over two seasons? I would imagine we had hoped for him to come in and be a key centre back and beinvolved more than that.

I like Mina btw, rather keep him than Keane, he offers more, but has he been a good signing? Debatable. Definitely not value for money. Again, there is a fine line whether Brands has been told by the medical team he's fine to sign, or whether they've known he would be injury prone and signed him anyway.

and to your point in bold. Worse squad? I doubt it. Fat Sam had two full backs who had more pace and alot fitter, rather than the Baines and Coleman we've had the past year or two. Sidibe was awful and Digne is the only proven quality we've had in defence. (Although Holgate has stepped his game up massively).

Allardyce line up v Southampton in May 2018.

Pickford, Coleman, Jagielka, Keane, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Vlasic, Tosun, Bolasi

HOW IS THAT WORSE than what we have now? We have no midfield. Schneiderlin looked slightly more arsed and Gana is twice as good as any of the chumps playing midfield for us now. Only quality difference is Richarlison. That team is in no way worse than what we had. And you've got Rooney who didnt play this game (i assume throguh injury). Also had Pickford who wasn't dropping clangers every game.
Right. Let's forget that Cuco Martina was the only left back option in 15 out of 24 matches under Allardyce. Let's forget that Oumar Niasse was the most scoring striker for Everton that season. Let's forget that the midfield was so poor that the use of Rooney as a number 6 was more than justified. Let's forget (PLEASE!) that Ashley Williams is a thing.

Correct.

They did have some average players, but they also had a solid spine of the team, the best teams do. Had Morgan and Huth playing at their maximum, all be it not brilliant players it worked. Kante, Mahrez and Vardy all hitting form.

It's not like Ranieri was parachuted into a relegation form team either, from January to May they were already showing top 4 amount of points. He then added a bit of fun compared to the authoritarian Pearson and much like us going from Moyes to Martinez the team got better until you lose that discipline completely and then things turn to crap.

Ranieri discovered a system and they made the most of it with the players he had. I can guarantee at the start of that season people in here, like every year had us finishing ahead of Leicester.

I don’t expect much business this summer, certainly not the overhaul we need, so this is where Carlo will earn his money.

I would say though that these group of players (the majority) have been playing under so many different managers, ideas and back room staff now (DF aside) that as a club we really need some stability. It seems that better run clubs, like Chelsea for example and other bigger clubs abroad can change managers and seamlessly still stay a top club without it affecting it as much as it would us. I’d suggest it’s the overall running of the club in which several are involved. I think we really need it to work with Carlo but I still think he needs to prove he can do it for us. His record counts for nothing for me, I’ve seen many players/managers before not make it, be past it, or just not be right for a club to make him immune from criticism. He needs this summer. Then next summer we’ll see where we are at. Up the toffees

30 points from 20 games is not half a season though is it buddy. It's 1.5 ppg. Or 38 x1.5 = 57 points - 8th. Not 5th -7th. And the team we pushed down won a trophy.

Well done for making yourself look a fool again haha.

The one who calls others a fool, without even know him is the biggest fool. Just look yourself in the mirror.

You’re having a go at Carlo after 20 games. Well done orly. What’s the solution?

What would you like to see Ancelotti do differently? And what is this coming disaster?
