The subs can be used to add energy and a change in formation can make them think a bit. Grab a goal and hang on.
Is that not a better tactic than what we witnessed? Waiting to be dispatched like a turkey at Christmas.
Reactive instead of proactive?
It was the failure to commit numbers to attacks. That wasn't an accident. The manager wanted bodies behind the ball.
Richarlison and DCL were swamped when they got a touch. They needed overlapping players. They had no chance up there AND doing their defensive duties.
It was a terrible set up.
Letting Newcastle do the double over us though, that deserves a few questions

Pep looks at his bench...sees De Bruyne, Mahrez, Aguero.
Carlos looks at his bench...sees Broadhead, John, and two under 18 goalkeepers.
Yes, basically. The point I was sort of making was that it was a one off game so did we have to park the bus and hope to nick one?
Had nothing to.From a valiant effort, but when City put their big guns ones needed fresh legs Carlo ? Did nothing.....
Yes, basically.
His usage of subs bothers me never makes a tactical change at half-time etc....Had nothing to.
I can understand that view , even though I have a different perspective. Who knows mate ?If it had been a league game I can understand it, but a one off cup game why not get in their faces from the off and have a go, at the end of the day we have a go and get beat 2-0 or 4-0, it makes no difference we're still out the cup.
Because if we'd gone out there and tried to play attacking football against City, we WOULD have lost 4 or 5-0. They're unbelievably good.If it had been a league game I can understand it, but a one off cup game why not get in their faces from the off and have a go, at the end of the day we have a go and get beat 2-0 or 4-0, it makes no difference we're still out the cup.
