@Cerys

Let me follow this up, by asking, which one are we to believe, you, an account created at 11pm last night are a long standing Everton fan who felt compelled to join to post, at length, about Ancelotti or you are someone who goes from football forum to football forum posting missives about that club's manager in order to get a rise?

Or he’s an RS, who’s that much of a bellend dullard got webbed off RAWK.

Which takes some doing.

Zaha and Eze aside though Palace are utter dirge - we had:

DCL
Richarlison
James
Digne
Mina
Keane

Them 6 alone would waltz into Palace's starting 11 and likely Davies on recent form.

When we lose games to the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd I can accept when the bench is limited we have no one to give us that edge whereas those teams can throw on a Cavani or a Giroud but teams like Fulham, Palace, Newcastle, Burnley we should be beating these teams especially at Goodison.

I want Carlo to stay on but he needs to take the blame for the drop off in performances and results this season and work his arse off on the tactics/formation next season and stop tinkering all the time - we've played about 5 formations this season which is criminal just stick to a formation and play players in their right positions even if it means an Nkounkou or a King starting the odd game.

We should also have had a new DOF in place for the summer as Brands has been here 3 years and we haven't moved past 8th place - thats ultimately failure on his watch.
I can’t disagree really, other than to say we lost in CM and we have done repeatedly when players are out.
Delph and Gbamin missing for so long this season coupled with Allan’s injuries mean we have failed again.
I expect us to finish tenth to be honest and it would be a fair reflection of our season.
The damage done under Walsh is still going through the club. Brands has been better, but not what we hoped. We can’t afford anymore Iwobi’s or Delphi’s.
It’s staggering to think that if Walcott or Tosun or Bolasie or Schniderlin or Bernard or Siggy or Iwobi had performed to their transfer value, we would have been in a far better situation.

Maybe, just maybe, managers haven't been our main problem over the last 25 years.

My opinion is that if Ancelotti can't turn us around then there is no manager we could attract who can. We would need to have 3 full seasons under Ancelotti with little or no progression before sack shouts have any credibility.
The problems are bigger than just the manager but it doesn't excuse the manager either.

Giving someone so much rope that they can just do 3 years of stagnation isn't a good start to fixing the larger problems.

Exactly. Look at Spurs fans with Mourinho. They know he's well past his best and want him gone.

Ancelotti is the same. The game has changed. What exactly is our style of play? Can anyone explain it? We don't press. We don't control the game. We don't have a recognised system. It's not like we hired Carlo last week.

Managers like Potter and Bielsa have given their teams a style, an identity. Do they earn as much as Carlo? I don't think so.
Spot on again. If fans were at Goodison watching this type of form, he’d be under huge pressure because there’s no way these performances would be getting cheered just because Ancelotti is on the touchline.

The writing is on the wall, sadly. He’s a manager on the decline.

You utter mentalists

Lead by this utter utter loon.

So how it is played has changed. Glad we're on the same page.
but the basic premise hasn't and only because new coaches try and be clever with tactics, most of which only confuse players and take away a lot of natural attributes to fit into the team model. The basics of the game haven't changed but I know you have never kicked a football in anger so you don't really get it., I mean you think crossing is a difficult skill so that's the page you are on matey. It isn't.

Hes surviving severe criticism because we are only four points off fourth place with a game in hand, you absolute lunatic.
We’ve won 1 game in 8 at Goodison since the turn of the year. You think we’d be cheering because we’re 5 points off fourth?

Also, this game in hand is all people are clinging onto, like it’s a forgone conclusion that we’re going to win it. If Aston Villa beat us, we’ll be down to 9th with Arsenal right behind us.

If fans were in Goodison we'd be winning far more matches.

These players need the help. They seem to lack motivation from within.

Managers aren’t the problem, I actually think all of them overachieved initially before being dragged down to the norm. We expect our managers to get europe and win trophies with squads of players where most wouldn’t get into any other team in the league. My opinion on players that other top half prem teams would want

17/18 - Gueye
18/19 - Digne Richarlison Gueye
19/20 - Digne Richarlison
20/21 - Digne Richarlison DCL Doucoure Godfrey James Allan

There’s been the odd loan in there like Zouma and maybe a pre injury Gomes, and Gbamin is an unknown, plus Kean out of the picture, but overall it’s just nowhere near good enough quality of player to reach the ambitions we want. The sad truth is no other top half team would have any of our other players yet we expect our managers to challenge for fourth with them and win trophies.

Compare that to 13/14 when we actually challenged:

Coleman Baines Stones Barry Barkley McCarthy Mirallas Lukaku Deulofeu would all have been wanted by top half prem teams.

We still have a long long way to go. Recruitment has to improve and the injuries have to stop. If we only have a handful of good players, we can’t have them missing most games.
