2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

I’ve heard a few people text in to the Radio Merseyside phone in just now.

One said “it’s time for Ancelotti to be moved on. He’s too clever for his own good”.

I’m lost for words. Some people seriously need to learn patience and give their heads a wobble. He’s by far the best we can get and shouts to remove him are idiotic.
And people wonder why we're always in a constant state of 'utter mess', when they want to sack a manager barely a year in the job.
Perhaps if we were rooted to the bottom of the table it might be understandable, but he had us top of it not long ago.

Crazies, the lot of them.

Needs to go back to 3 in midfield for the next game. I would bring in Siggy until Gomes is fitter, in-fact slap the captains armband on him and make him play for his place in the squad.

I hear you mate I really do. There's only a few calling for his head here. Two or three max. There's another few, probably including me, that are just not that convinced he's the right guy based on some of his decisions so far and the lack of progress on the pitch. I certainly don't want him gone though. However, he'd be in the firing line at most clubs now after the run he's been on. That start is giving him a bit of extra credit but this run in the last 6 league games is really bad.

The idea of sacking Carlo Ancelotti is asinine. More than a few people have said, and I agree, we aren't getting anyone better.

Additionally, the idea of "you can't question the man who refuses to play younger players in their natural positions and has a return of 5 points out of 21" is also asinine. Carlo seriously needs to do better. That really shouldn't be debatable given how we've fallen off a cliff for literally no reason.

The thing which also frustrates me is that people are calling it a project and that it takes time. However, his actions, and certainly the actions of the club in the summer, are treating it more like immediate results are the driving factor here. I mean he should be implementing a formation/style of play in training. Drilling the players to play a certain way. There's been comparisons with Klopp on here but I'm fairly sure that Klopp wasn't changing formations every week, no doubt confusing his players as to what he wanted. They will have continued to train their players to play a certain way but to a detriment of their results. We seem to be doing anyhing to get a result whilst committing to no long term plan. How can you go from 4-4-2, then 4-3-3 to 3-4-3 and then back again within 12 months. I mean what are they doing in training? Surely they should be working on what the long term plan is. There's a can of worms here with the DOF, as it's him who is supposed to set the style of play throughout the club, which has been quoted by Everton but that seems to have been deserted. At the start of the season it appeared that the switch of play from James to our left hand side was a pattern of play which had been worked on and was causing issues. Then Richarlison got suspended and instead of just replacing like for like with Gordon, he deserted it and that pattern of play became redundant. Now when he had the chance to play Nkonkou and have a threat again down that left hand side, he played Delph who barely moves over the halfway line and Richarlison is less of a threat. And trying to sort out a defence that is leaking goals by constantly changing personnel and formations is surely not the way forward, it just confuses our Defenders and wing/full backs? At this moment in time, we have players that have been swapped, played in different positions on a week by week basis and must have no idea where they're supposed to be every week. This includes Godfrey, Iwobi, Doucoure, Holgate and Mina. That's a lot of players to have in your team confused.....

It is and I think he's let us down.

I don't think Carlo rates much of this squad at all and changing the formation to prevent him from having to use the back up left back is big indicator of this imo.
As @jamieni said...Brands picked Nkounkou and that's supposedly his job, being able to spot a goodun and then get him for a reasonable price.
James and Allen were Ancelotti picks and I would say Doucoure was a Brands pick
Therein lies the problem, 2 people picking players when only 1 person gets the sack for a poor team
