Romelu Lukaku was arguably a gamble off Chelsea's bench, yes he had a good season at west Brom but he was a substitute a lot there as well. Established, world class players don't come to Everton mate, players that come to Everton are either young prospects we can develop ourselves or formerly great players like Eto'o and Rooney who you hope have enough magic left to take us further.

Gambling on players like Tosun is probably the best we can hope for, we just have to hope it's a gamble that pays off.

I wouldn't say some of those were proven. Batshuayi isn't even proven in our league. Volland is okay... hardly prolific in a team that creates a butt load of chances.

Kinda agree because unless EFC goes for someone like Aubemayang and pays 60 million plus then this guy looks a fair bet. Takes a great penalty too. So no more shaking whenever Wayne steps up.

btw based on what he had showed at WBA, Lukaku was no gamble. That was a nailed one success and Martinez did well to pull it off.
