Horses for courses. DCL suited what we needed more yesterday.

I do feel Tosun possibly hasn't shown enough to put him ahead of DCL, mind, but just looking at the attributes of each player, even if Tosun was on form I'd actually have put DCL on anyway in that situation yesterday for the last few minutes.

I think that's a fair assessment.

I will say that it never seems to have been a workrate issue at Besiktas, but they did play with a proper front three. And by front three I mean three actual strikers.

I think Tosun showed in the first few games this season that he can link the play and can work hard for the team without reward. However, that was as the team was still growing into Silva's style, and now we're seeing that Silva's style doesn't necessarily require that type of player.

What I will add though is that I reckon he's still one of our best finishers at the club. I still think he can be more than useful for us and I certainly wouldn't be looking to get rid any time soon.

Has to be one of the players out the door in Janaury.

Someone like Palace will offer us £12-15 million and we would be fools not to take it. Get another £6-7 million for Niasse and thats £20-25 million in the pot to go towards a new centre forward.

Indeed but his clinical finishing against Palace at home, upped his confidence it seemed, then later him not getting any minutes against Brighton upset him IMO. You are right about match against Kenyan team but it was really a nothing match. Can't blame any players for not being fully motivated. Its all about confidence at this stage, if confident he can score with pure finishing skills like Palace game, if not then he could miss like West Ham game.

And I agree with other posters, don't think Silva sees Tosun behind DCL at all, it was just the character of the match at that moment, DCL would be more useful yesterday (even tho wasn't). Silva is fully aware of what is going on about players.

If he wants his place back he should be fully motivated though surely? You can't cruise through a game like that and then throw a wobbler when you don't get subbed on in the next game.
