I don't think he's got worse though, he just doesn't suit the system we play. There's a difference.

Don't think it's as much a Jelavic-esque loss of form as it's simply not having the physical attributes to play in that role in the way that Silva wants.

I can agree with that, not mobile or pacey enough for our system, maybe he's lost confidence as well, no matter, i just was hoping for more from him as I believe he can slot 10 -15, not all good strikers are prolific but they have to contribute in more team play and bringing others in and he's even struggling with that.

But he isn't a slotter, he has no guile,no foresight & he is simply not good enough it saddens me to say...

he's a good finisher, he just lacks the physicality to play how Silva wants the striker in our current system to play, and he doesn't really bring enough attributes to the table to justify changing our style.

I'm not sure it's just that though. He hasn't got worse, he just wasn't that good in the first place. He can't have a Jelavic like loss of form because he never had a Jelavic like run of form. He only got 1 goal in the last 7 games of last season, only scored in 4 games after signing in January. We gave him the benefit of the doubt because the team wasn't great, Allardyce was manager, and we wanted him to be good. He's looked average right from the very first time we saw him though. He didn't score many in an Allardyce team and he doesn't score many in a Silva team. At some point you have to think it might be a bit more than the tactics that are holding him back.

I think it's a combination of a few things, including what you state.

I do think he's got quality, but whether it's good enough for where we want to be is obviously up for debate.

What isn't up for debate is that he can't be starting games unless we're going to adapt our style a bit, because he simply can't do what Richarlison does in that role.

I feel bad for him, and don't really understand how he plays at his best. If he doesn't fit in our team, and style of play, which he clearly doesn't, then what does he fit in? He didn't fit into Big Sam's style either did he? Is he someone to just get on the end of crosses?

Cant believe we paid £23mil for him and £20mil for Walcott...£43mil in Brands hands would have gone a long long way.

Walcott we can probably get our money back on....but who is going to pay a decent fee for Tosun?

You not see how much we missed Walcott the other day like, Zat?

And bare in mind, I'm happy that Lookman got his chance.

Totally agree, fans on here went on about how what we sold Klaassen for was a good deal, no it bloody wasn't. One bad season in the prem didn't mean he'd lost £10m in value. Just look at the questionable prices the RS get for unproven crap like Ibe, we'd have got about £3m for him.

We over paid by about 10m mate so I'd say he was worth 14/15m and we got 10m back which tbh I thought was a miracle.

Leicester bought a backup keeper who's never played a prem game from Liverpool for more. £10m is shocking.
Yes but he has potential, everyone knows Tosun is poor!

On his book value we would need to sell at £18.4mil to breakeven in Jan. Summer it would be £16.1mil.

I wouldnt be shocked to see him loaned out for the rest of the season for a fee (possibly back to besiktas) and then sold on in summer for £15mil+

He's a Turkish international, he's a good striker, not good enough for where we aim to be but he's certainly not poor. Ward better hurry up and start showing potential because he's behind Schmeichel and henessey for club and Country, now that is poor.
