Sam wanted him whilst at Palace by all accounts, although i do think the club jumped a bit because he had just been top scorer in the CL group stages(Mosh watched him against Monaco) some more research maybe should have been done, although BFS generally has a fairly good record in the transfer market over the years if you look at it, it's more the style of game he plays that is always the issue as we are all aware.

I think I said quite early on that he would struggle up top on his own, at Bestikas he always played up top with support, but in this league, most teams, us included want mostly an old school number 9 who leads the line. Hes a goalscorer, not a Striker, granted he hasnt scored many goals, but you know what I mean.

I just think if they had known Silva was coming in they might have asked him and he would probably have known he wouldn't suit his system. DCL is the right type of player just not good enough at the moment but Tosun will never suit a Silva team and so is only any use as a substitute if you want to mix it up a bit.

Sadly its another reason why sacking managers willy and indeed nilly is very damaging for clubs and the main reason why we should stick with Silva even if things arent going swimmingly for a period.

Absolutely. Moyes did my head in at times but he achieved some consistently decent league positions. In his 2nd full season we finished 17th but the board stuck with him and we finished 4th. Brands and Silva need time and support. I think another 3 windows of gradual change to get the squad to where they want it.

It was always an odd signing, Allardyce was all about stopping the goals last season, he had no interest whatsoever in actually scoring them as was proven by the fact we went 3/4 games with 1 shot on target. Like you i never saw him as a Diego Costa type who could run the front line on his own and just do his thing without the need for support, at Besiktas the whole team was built around him and that was never going to happen here, then this season we have a new regime with a new style and he does'nt fit within it.

Thing is you would still think he should be able to adapt his game a bit, 27m ain't chump change yet he is considered a bench warmer on 120k,a week!

God I wish I was a togger player who didn't fit a certain system!

For sure, I know its not a well liked term, but Mina spoke about the "project" this week, thats what we are, a long term project, its going to take as you say at least 3 windows till Silva has the players he wants, till Brands can shed the utter tosh, a massive degree of patience is required from a fanbase not known for its patience.

Maybe thats harsh, the bed wetters seem to shout loudest and longest. Theres a good chunk of fans who are willing to wait, give The Mosh, Brands, Silva time to build, then theres the "but City did it in 12months" posse, utter biffs to a man.

Ironically I think Tosun probably would have suited a Moyes or a Koeman team. I would keep him until the end of the season then hopefully get some money back. Wages will be a problem but he looks the type who wants to play so I think he could end up back in Turkey.

It's got to the point where its actually game to game..

We are either title challengers or relegation fodder

Never known anything like it!

He plays good football so hopefully even if we don't get results that will buy him time. I can't wait until we get a full team of Silva type players plus subs. What these people forget about City and Chelsea though is they came in and bullied the market. We are still behind 5 or 6 clubs in our appeal unfortunately. I would hope they have learned from the previous regime mistakes and dont try to intergrate too many players at once. Mina, Bernard and Gomes being injured early on maybe worked for us as it saves us from having too many new faces straight away.
