Because that's my whole argument FFS
Firstly, I don't think Tosun is anywhere near as bad as everyone else does. He showed in that first season that he can score goals in this league and I reckon he'll do it again if he gets the chance at another club
Secondly, I believe it's preferable to play him, even if his form isn't currently great, over someone who isn't a striker because at least he actually is a striker. Martina and Sigurdsson are valid to the discussion because they were players who played a specific position (right back and number 10) who were shoehorned into another position they weren't suited to (left back and wing) and in turn played poorly because that wasn't their position
Thirdly, if he goes and we sign another striker to replace him, fine. So long as we have cover then I'm happy. Right now we have two actual strikers, DLC and Tosun, with other players who can play that position but it's not their usual role, Richarlison and Walcott
I personally think it would be wrong to go the rest of the season with just ONE striker, because if DCL gets hurt or suspended, we'll be forced to play round pegs in square holes, like we did with Martina and Sigurdsson. We've seen that this doesn't work, so it'd be a bad idea for the club to do it IMO
That's all I'm saying.
