He told you this?
He has told everyone in a recent interview that he is going no where and wants to fight for his place, he said the fans love him.
Apparently he has rejected palace
Yeh, he wants to fight for his place not just sit on the bench taking a wage as the OP put it, making him sound like a mercenary...report from Turkey that he’s turned down 11 offers this month.

...we really don’t know if that’s the case. If the club are willing to release him, then he must know he’s not getting much game time. Indeed, it could be argued that the best chance he has of getting a place at Everton is to go elsewhere and prove how good he is.
The reality is, it seems he has no future at Everton.
Indeed, we will see. I personally think he would come good in a good team (that is playing well).
....I’ve not particularly rated him since I first watched him, he doesn’t possess great technique, he’s not particularly fast and he’s not particularly powerful. A CB in this league will be chuffed to see his name on the team sheet.
He’s an ok finisher, he needs to find a level or team where the attributes he lacks are not so vital.
He is slow, yes, but I actually think his technique is OK and his finishing is very good. As an optimist, I think he needs a goal and a bit of confidence and some decent service.
I live in hope
I wrote this back in August:...we need forwards who can create from very little, who go to war with CBs and worry them with pace and power. You used the descriptor ‘ok’, but ok is adequate and at this level and in our team set up we need somebody much more effective.
I like the lad, I just can’t for one minute understand why Walsh wanted to buy him when he clearly isn’t what we needed.

A loan may be the best, because if he does well, we can ask for the same fee we paid from a host of clubs in the summer.
But as I've just written in the transfer thread, who actually does that well on loan from us.
He's just slightly below mediocreOur fans go way OTT with how bad some players are.
