Did feel really bad for Chelsea at the end. Was quite vocal in the weeks coming to this tie that I wanted Barca to win because I think they're a much better side. However on the balance of the tie, particularly this second leg, they absolutely didn't deserve to go through. I love Messi, think he'll be better than Maradona, but when I saw him celebrating at the end all I could say to myself was 'you absolutely don't deserve that, you were anonymous, again'.

On the balance of the games, particularly 3 of the penalties that should've been given. Chelsea should feel aggrieved. However, I still think the best team got through, and I'm glad for Barca. Hopefully they can find their cutting edge in the final, and Messi can get over his phobia of English sides.

As for the Chelsea behaviour at the end, it was an utter disgrace, as Drogba would say. I don't care how bad you think the referee has been, no human being, never mind professional, deserves that. He didn't just make mistakes your way Chelsea remember, even though he did have an absolute howler. I was proud that the ref didn't end up giving someone a smack, cos at least Drogba and Ballack deserved one. Hopefully the F.A. will stick it to them for that.

Glad for Iniesta aswell, was their best player on the night and showed his class at the end.

What else?

Oh yeah, Danny when you said before that you hated when Weir shook Colina's hand after the Villarreal game, I have to completely disagree. There's a way you should behave as a club and there's a way you shouldn't. Our players were amicable, respectful, dignified, and fantastic role models. The Chelsea you saw tonight were the exact opposite. Petulant, embarrasing, childish, pointless, pathetic, I could go on. This is the kind of image and behaviour we're trying to stamp out of the game.

Because that's all it is in the end.

For how great Messi is, even he or even Pele, Maradonna, Zidane, whoever, couldnt really shine when they were marked by Ashley Cole, Malouda and Essien or anyone near him.

Everytime he was one on one, he'd blitz past them. 2 or 3 on one, he still pretty much gave them a hard time - you see him shrug Terry off like he was nothing? For a little feller he's got some good strength. He wasnt steller but it was never going to be if he's marked out the game. That ball just sticks to his foot where ever he goes.

Set up the goal though.

Messi is one excellent player but certainly no Maradona. Similarities are there of course, they are good on the ball, strong physically but because of his comparison to the great but controversial legend, Messi has not been immune himself to cheating in the past. The more people replicate him to Maradona, the more Messi will replicate Maradona's actions over the years.

Messi is 21, when Maradona was 26 in 86 when he destroyed the world. Messi is a very special boy, but its wrong to compare him to Maradona.

I have no doubt he will shine for years to come, its only at the end could we say "yea he was better". But I reckon thats what we are gonna be saying.

Talk some strange language you mate.

So by us saying Messi is like Maradon, he is more likely to handball a goal in against England?

Fair play. But I doubt he did that because he wanted to emulate Maradona, he did that because he is South American and they do that to. **** Maradona even said that his handball wasn't cheating it was bending the rules.

Different mentality.

Sorted the link lad. I agree they both have a different mentality, Messi is more clean living. I am just stating that all this comparison nonsense can effect a players mentality. I am not suggesting Messi thinks he is the new Maradona, nor do i think he will become like him, but i emphasise the importance in making comparisons and the affect it could have on certain individuals.

David Moyes will be taking a very positive line on tonight. His thinking will be that Chelsea's season finished this evening - the FA Cup is scant consolation for Chelsea.

We showed at Stamford Bridge we can contain them and our hunger for victory will surely be greater than theirs - this FA Cup is ours for the taking - best result possible for us this evening - a last minute sickener for Chelsea.

As I said earlier in this thread, he would have cursed when Iniesta scored.

Moyes disappointed Chelsea out of Europe - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Everton manager David Moyes was disappointed Chelsea did not reach the Champions League final - even though it will make life slightly harder for his own side later this month.
The two clubs meet in the FA Cup final at Wembley three days after the date of the culmination of the Champions League in Rome.
Had Guus Hiddink's team got through against Barcelona in midweek it would have meant an extra match in the last week of the season while the Toffees would have had six uninterrupted days to prepare.
"It would probably have suited us if they were still in it because it would have given them another game," said Moyes.
"But I was disappointed. I'd have liked Chelsea to have gone through for everyone's sake and I'm disappointed they did not make it.
"Overall the final is a one-off game at Wembley and who knows how it's going to go."

Biiiiiiig game tonight.

My prediction -

Barcalona 0 - Man Utd 1 (Ronaldo)

United will win it by a wonder goal or defensive cock up by Barca, 1-0. Barca will dictate the play while United sit back with two banks of 4 as their defence. Rooney will hold up the ball, bring it forward half way up the pitch to Ronaldo who'll skin the defence tracking back and slot home. Barca will [Poor language removed]-foot, play some lovely stuff, but try and find the killer ball through the eye of a needle that will never come.

United will be Champion League winners again. Everyone will hail it as glourious performance and their fans will say it’s the greatest United side ever, ever, ever, Ronaldo the best player ever, ever, ever…..

Away from the hype it'll be seen as an anti-football game where one team wanted to win and the other didn’t want to lose.

Now if both teams just went out and played how they're supposed to play, it'll be a great game. But Barca are the better side overall so United would never chance it. United are just better defensivly and more organised so will hold out.

I would love Barca to win it IMO. I just cant see it though, unless they want to do the nitty gritty and dig in, not be afraid of playing it scrappy rather than pretty football. A Messi wonder-goal (where he invents he own styled overhead kick 45 yard out into the top corner) would be pure gold to see.

I tell you why I dont fancy Barcelona - the defence. Not just because they have Marquez, Alves and Abidal out. Puyol will get raped at RB back by Rooney; Pique is good on the ball but he switches off at key moments in the games I've seen him in, and his inexperience will be found out tonight.

I hope United win too. It'll pile the misery on the Kopites. What a week this could be:

Newcastle relegated
United sicken Liverpool with another CL win
Everton beat Chelsea

...now if Carlsberg organised end of season results.....
