Champions League revamp

If UEFA and FIFA do ban players from playing for there country it will kill the SL.English players don’t care much about playing for there country but other country do.
I do t think this is true. Kane, Owen, shearer, even rooney would not have the legacy they have now without their England career

Part of me was warmed when fifa and uefa sounded so furious at this. Then I realised that its fifa and uefa - amoral and corrupt to the core - so they will be only be furious until they get a slice of cash and power.

The best solution is that anybody against this simply boycott the clubs involved, on TV and at the ground. There's no mileage in a RS fan banging on about how they're against it and then turning up at a turnstile.
You can bet you life the the people hired to run this league would worked at fifa or uefa.

They can't stop them playing in it.

However, what they have done is ruled themselves and the players out of recognised competitions such as the champions league, Europa, super cup, euros and world cup ran by the organisations and unions they're supposed to be a part off (which they also quit last night).

The PL rules state that teams aren't allowed to play in non-recognised leagues or competitions.

So until a governing body sanctions this league...they're all playing a dangerous game domestically.
Then that's it they should be thrown out of English football, greatest day for football.

you’re deluded if you think there will be any real action against them. They’ll secure a bigger part of the pot, ensure that the new status quo remains and none of the governing bodies will do a thing.

This is just capitalism and what should have been expected once football ceased to be a working class game.

I suggest you all move on tbh. Spend your weekends watching grass roots and save the money for something else.
Let’s wait and see.

The European competitions do need a revamp, though this idea is just hideous and downright despicable.

For me the CL should be made up of eight teams, each the respective champion of their league. England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, new Dutch/Belgian, Russian, final spot going to the EL winner. Each team gets 3 home, 3 away and one neutral game respectively. Then the top 4 play 2nd-legged semis against each other then a final. Only 10 games a season at the most, sorted.

Whilst your at it revamp the EL, rebrand it as the Uefa Cup again and have it be 64 teams as a straight knock out competition, two legs. That would mean 11 games a season at most. Scrap away goals.

The above means more competition, less games to cope with, a real feeling of having earnt your way into prestigious competitons. Scrap the four team group-stages, no one has ever enjoyed them.
They want more games not less. The Man Us of this world, want every game to be important. They don't want filler matches like against Burnley or Stoke.

People thinking about 'legal' issues to take down the Super League. There's really nothing stopping them from doing this. They could broadcast this on youtube if they wanted to. They have zero problems giving up the local fanbase, because the international fanbase, or rather the mainstream, fair weather supporters just want big matches every week. They're not the ones travelling home and away to games and going to pubs and things. They just watch it on cable tv, maybe throw a bit of banter around on twitter.

There's no legitimate way to stop these teams from walking away. The NBA realised this fairly on which is why the players take 50% of the revenue, and gets renegotiated every time. And even then the way these player contracts and money is distributed is heavily in favour of 'star' players, where one player will take a mega contract $200m contract and 6 or 7 other guys on the team ride out the bench on minimum wages. When it comes to money, nothing is fair and equal.

Simple, treat it the same as going into administration...
30 point deductions for all six of them...
It's hilarious how arsenal, struggling to finish top half are apparently a European super team....
And why should leicester miss out?

I would refuse to allow them to play in the English league for as long as they take part in this joke competition
Make it 80 points.

We know why Leicester misses out - these teams are run by a cartel of gangsters. Leicester has never been in the conversation as a perennial top 6 club in the last 20 years let alone 5 years.

Do you think how this will end up though John?

I don't know.

I do know that 20 clubs will NEVER be bigger than the rest of European football combined.

If nobody else is gonna play them, if there's no promotion, as in everybody tells them 'no thanks' what are they gonna do? It will be boring. How long are AC Milan fans gonna be happy with finishing bottom every season?

How are they gonna fill their calendar without playing each other over and over again, with no domestic football?

Call their bluff, and tell them to pee off.

Isn't the Championship like the 5th most watched league in the world?

Tell them to go. They can share their pot of gold between themselves, in a sterile bubble of their own making.

Lets see how Gavin from Warwickshire likes having to travel to Europe, or further afield ,20+ times a season when Arsenal are second bottom with 2 wins in 3 months..

Let's see how they like only having one trophy to play for every season. Kerching! Haha. Idiots.

You are probably right. Let's see if the EPL and UEFA have the balls to expel the scum.
Sure it will involve short term financial pain but football is lost if they dont.

Exactly.

Also right now - all the pundits are having a right go at them, condemning this. It's interesting, I suppose the people in charge, probably allowed the initial reaction, to see how upset people would be.

But seriously as fans of football - we should be trying to get these owners out, and the only way is to NOT WATCH super league. I actually think it will be interesting to watch the media turn, see who turns first to get excited about the super league, talk about oh but its the best players, oh im mad about it, but its here and we can't really do anything about it. Watch these people turn around after getting instructions from up top. The greedy pigs at the top know how to turn this thing around and that's what's scary. We're actually our own worst enemy.

Woke up this morning really devastated as a football fan. Leaving everton aside for a minute the idea that a closed competition with colossal financial gains for all those involved and allowing them then to play in the premier league could mean the end of my real interest in football. It really is the total end of competition. I'm not a big fan of the premier/uefa sometimes but overall they all well run organisations. They have one chance to stand up to these clubs. No closed door agreements. Remove them from the premier league will destroy their greed. It would work. But they need to be brave enough.
