Champions League revamp

I'm not sure they can ban them until they actually leave. I think this is a bargaining tool. However it's the nuclear option and if somebody bargained with me like that I'd leave the room.

They want more games not less. The Man Us of this world, want every game to be important. They don't want filler matches like against Burnley or Stoke.

People thinking about 'legal' issues to take down the Super League. There's really nothing stopping them from doing this. They could broadcast this on youtube if they wanted to. They have zero problems giving up the local fanbase, because the international fanbase, or rather the mainstream, fair weather supporters just want big matches every week. They're not the ones travelling home and away to games and going to pubs and things. They just watch it on cable tv, maybe throw a bit of banter around on twitter.

There's no legitimate way to stop these teams from walking away. The NBA realised this fairly on which is why the players take 50% of the revenue, and gets renegotiated every time. And even then the way these player contracts and money is distributed is heavily in favour of 'star' players, where one player will take a mega contract $200m contract and 6 or 7 other guys on the team ride out the bench on minimum wages. When it comes to money, nothing is fair and equal.

Make it 80 points.

We know why Leicester misses out - these teams are run by a cartel of gangsters. Leicester has never been in the conversation as a perennial top 6 club in the last 20 years let alone 5 years.
If this was done in the early 80s villa and Nottingham forest would have led the charge.
success can come and go, it’s what keeps smaller clubs dreaming. This evaporates in minutes.
part of me wants to see Liverpool become a small fish in a big pond and struggle every week though. See how long they retain the fan base from all over the world then

I'm not sure I understand. Their place in the English football pyramid has just become totally irrelevant. They'll play second string sides in the Premier League, assuming they're allowed to stay in it.

It's quite simple.

If they are banned from English football for the season 2021-2022, and then applied to re-join for 2022-2023, it has been stated that they would have to enter at the 5th tier, i.e. the National League. They would not jump straight back in to the top flight.

Would their top players want to be playing National League? If they played their U23 side, would they ever get out of there?

Not that important if the winning prize money is only £30m and there is no actual competitive aspect to the 'competition'.

I mean they get 300m for participating, so yeah I agree they just have to show up.

But I also meant they don't want to play stoke one week and burnley the next. The want to play the big clubs all the time. And no Rubin kazans, or Young Boys from Switzerland, only Real madrids and Juventus.

Think signing up up for the gig is a clear indication of what they're planning.

Taken the whole of world football into disrupte.

They wouldn't get back in if they were still playing in the new competition. They would have to leave it.

I really want this to happen just so we can see if the governing bodies actually have the balls to reprimand them.
I would be in full agreement but I also know full well they wont. But it will be the nail in their own coffin. If they was a way they could also bury themselves after nailing their own coffin they will.

A small points deduction this season and a fine that will be pocket change will see the end of competitive football when glimpses of it was coming back.

I remember World Series Cricket being "the end of Cricket" but it ended up actually being good for Cricket. I imagine that some might argue that this may be a similar outcome but there are stark differences between to two & anyone telling us otherwise will also try and sell us a Bridge.

But, just like WSC, their competition & trophies will become meaningless & forgotten over time.

This all hinges on their idea that this replaces the UEFA Champion's League, they have the funding lined up, roughly $400 million per club.

They expect to remain in their domestic leagues, because otherwise the clubs are playing roughly 20 "competitive" matches a season.

Solution is simple, boot them from the domestic competitions and they'll be forced to make the decision of which their creditors think is the more viable income stream.
