If this was done in the early 80s villa and Nottingham forest would have led the charge.
success can come and go, it’s what keeps smaller clubs dreaming. This evaporates in minutes.
part of me wants to see Liverpool become a small fish in a big pond and struggle every week though. See how long they retain the fan base from all over the world then

Well yeah that's going to be real interesting then isnt it. Because I said its going to be like Survivor, its all fun and games when it starts, but the teams at the bottom will start to unsettle and there'll be unrest. Let's face it - the Real Madrids and Barcelonas don't give a toss about the teams at the bottom, they're just making up the numbers.

Like Arsenal - bottom half team of the super league, I bet the big clubs start to poach their players...

They wouldn't get back in if they were still playing in the new competition. They would have to leave it.

From what was posted last night, it was only a one season ban being talked about.

If they were still in the Super League and applied for re-admission, that would then be interesting. Should be told to take a hike until they quit the Super League. And then re-join at National League level.

It’s when they poach their subscribers - this is where the money will be.

Rawk seems split on the matter:

I agree with most that this looks a bad idea but can we afford to be noble and pass it up knowing that other teams(Everton?) would gladly take our place? It doesn’t mean that we can’t influence the competition from within and it may evolve to be something more palatable to fans(or this may just be a bargaining ploy by the likes of manu and us for more media rights).
I just find it hilarious that Gary Neville and other English media are invoking YNWA(maybe in the hope that Liverpool fans will mobilise against this) when we have been denigrated and despised by the rest of the country for decades(but they want us to continue to subsidise their football teams).
I love how they make everything about us. Mashed in their heads them goons.

but the PL would obvs want them back for the league and it’s revenue? Can of worms this!

Btw I'm not from the UK, so perhaps this is a big deal in terms of this affecting the 'working class' because as an outsider that's what it looks like.

But I can say having lived in two countries - Australia and Malaysia - they may care less about the premier league, and traditions and history. Like literally the way someone in Asia picks a club is to pick one with recent success, like a top 4 club. There's actually been a lot less Arsenal supporters honestly, because it hasn't had that recent success. But most people here are Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea fans. And they don't really give two cahoots about playing Burnley or Stoke.

There's 2.5 billion people in Asia - that's what people in the UK are up against if they're fighting against the Super League. Even if no one in the UK watched the Super League, there'd be billions that watch. Football is huge here, not necessarily because of all the 'history' but because people like big spectacles like a Liverpool v Man United. People don't even care about their own sport in their own country, people just want 'the best'.

Even if these 12 clubs lose in the UK, Spain and Italy where they are from - the audience out there is huge for them. Now that I think about it like this - they really can't lose.

Most Asian fans i know choose a team based on the players in that team...

If those teams are playing in the big games then they are into the match and seeing how the competition unfolds becomes secondary...and they'll watch now and again and check on the results here and there.

The key is that there are gaps between the matches. Its an 'occasion' for them to see a 'big game' at the top of the table or in a cup and something to look forward to.

Remove the competition and theyre watching glorified friendlies...its the same as the exhibition matches that have taken place in the US and Asia.

How many Asian fans watch those summer exhibition matches? The stadiums are packed as its an 'occasion' but would they all tune in on pay per view?

No chance.

It's quite simple.

If they are banned from English football for the season 2021-2022, and then applied to re-join for 2022-2023, it has been stated that they would have to enter at the 5th tier, i.e. the National League. They would not jump straight back in to the top flight.

Would their top players want to be playing National League? If they played their U23 side, would they ever get out of there?
I would put this in play only if they pull out of the super league.
If they continue with the super league they are not allowed back in ever as long as they are part of it.
