Champions League revamp

Imagine the kind of players that would be involved in these games.

Mercenaries like Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez as standard. Then you'd get some genuinely great players who have had long, successful careers who have 1-2 pre-retirement seasons on £1m a week - it'd be an alternative to the Chinese or American leagues. None of them would be eligible to play in the World Cup. They'd literally be playing the same teams for the rest of their careers on Wednesday nights. That's great for mercenaries. But for players who can afford to scrape by on £100k a week in the Premier League or La Liga, they'd at least be able to have proper football careers.

If this became a real, acrimonious split where the FA, UEFA and FIFA actually stuck up for themselves (LOL), not one person involved in the ESL would be able to have a non-ESL football career. All coaching qualifications would be revoked etc. What happens if a coach gets sacked from an ESL club and needs to get another job? He wouldn't be able to go to any other league in the world.

hopefully they are negotiating with the EFL some way to replace the six Judas clubs - three automatic for the Championship and then playoffs between the bottom three PL teams and 4-6 in the Championship?

if there was ever a time for Rangers and Celtic to join the EPL this is surely it? Replace the outgoing 6 with; Rangers, Celtic, Norwich, Watford, Swansea and Brentford.

There is no doubt that removing 6 teams from the premier league will have a big impact money wise, but there will be a certain appeal to advertisers of adding Rangers and Celtic, not enough to cover for those 6 going but it could cushion the blow somewhat.

PL need to have the balls to threaten to kick them, and follow through with it.

The scab 6 will be using the PL money as a bargaining tool - I.e ‘if we leave, you’ll lose loads of revenue’.

The PL need to be firm and clear - ‘we’re prepared to lose revenue to preserve the integrity of the game. Are you prepared to lose your own integrity with your own supporters to get more money?’

the threat has already been made (in the UEFA statement), just carry it out
