Champions League revamp

Right, 'saddest day'. You'll get over it and eat up the new product if it comes to life, as will everyone else. Don't worry about it. For all the big talk here about how you're all disgusted, 99% of you will most likely sub to it. Maybe not right away, but it'll happen.

I support Hajduk Split. I've grown up to a shitty, corrupt & rigged domestic league, where you need a miracle to happen for Dinamo not to win it. Or maybe 2-3 miracles, all in the same season, can't decide yet.

So their chances of winning anything but Croatian Cup are slim, let alone something else. But it's football, it's something I genuinely go for the experience of it to a stadium. Same with lower league football that I frequent sometimes.

But when I do want to watch & enjoy football, I watch only the big games and big clubs.
FFF OFF LAD

It seems that all these players have been told to say nothing: like a media block, seems weird none of the clubs players involved have said a word - cowards

By horrible coincidence; Palace’s greatest European game happened 59 years ago yesterday when European champions Real Madrid came to Selhurst Park to open Third Division Palace’s new floodlights. Palace lost 3-4 to a team containing all the greats including Di Stefano and Gento. The reason Real Madrid came was because, at a Palace Board meeting, an offer from an unnamed northern first division club to play was considered much too expensive. “You could get Real Madrid for that!” said one Director. “Off you go then” said the chairman.

I'm pretty sure we spent most of the 90s trying to avoid relegation. I must have completely imagined that.

This new league is a closed shop and that's against sporting integrity. If you want to only watch 12 sides play each other abroad then you're obviously not a huge sports fan.

Going to have to disagree and say that it's against sporting integrity, as we have perfectly functional closed shop sporting leagues over here.

Now if you want to say it's against soccer integrity, I can get behind that. What makes soccer different is the web of meaningful competitions, from domestic league to all-comers-cup to continental competition to internationals.

Twelve teams making a cynical bet that they can make more money by opting out of the system that propelled them into giant money-making engines shows a distinct lack of perspective on history. It's an enormous risk that for each participant will either pay off big or kill the golden goose. They're all saying that they're bigger than the leagues that brought them the monetized eyeballs in the first place.

Well, we're about to find out.

Arsenal and Spurs?

Suspect you will find very few players at these clubs with a negative thing to say about increasing their wages by 30% or so.

Having read what’s been going I wouldn’t be surprised if the players, managers etc... were the last to know. Definitely embargo’s on being outspoken about it though. Fair play to Ander Herrera for speaking publicly although he plays for mega oil riches PSG so not quite sure he’s the right person to speak out lol

Of course it is.

Henry and Kroenke are despicable. Glazer's equally as bad, but with out the former two, there's no way he gets this over the line.

As an avid follower of US Sports, i can assure you that whilst they're exciting, when you get teams like Pittsburgh Pirates, who've made three playoff appearances in 30 years, and regularly have the worst record in baseball, what's the point? Imagine Burnley finishing with 3 points every season, but it's okay cause theyre making money.

It's effective, it's dramatic, but only 6-7 teams can really get excited. It's not football. Leave it with the Americans.

Don't understand relegation. Won't bother to learn why. Pig ignorant people.
