Champions League revamp

Pains me to say it, but fair play to the red just now on TalkSport. “What happens to the derby, what happens to Top 4, what happens to West Ham?!” An extremely rare occurrence of a Kopite thinking of the bigger picture.
Although there's probably a lot of conflicted types who maybe see the necessity of being one of the haves rather than the have-nots, I don't think many genuine fans will be in favour of this. Hell, even the Twitter types with players as their avis are against this.

Of course it is.

Henry and Kroenke are despicable. Glazer's equally as bad, but with out the former two, there's no way he gets this over the line.

As an avid follower of US Sports, i can assure you that whilst they're exciting, when you get teams like Pittsburgh Pirates, who've made three playoff appearances in 30 years, and regularly have the worst record in baseball, what's the point? Imagine Burnley finishing with 3 points every season, but it's okay cause theyre making money.

It's effective, it's dramatic, but only 6-7 teams can really get excited. It's not football. Leave it with the Americans.
It's different. Different can be good. Footy is not baseball or hockey or whatever. It's been a certain way for about 140 years and now these assholes are trying to completely change it completely. It's a terrible thing and needs to be dealt with swiftly and harshly.

I would have laughed at that notion just a day ago. Whatever the jibes from oppo fans, City have always had a good strong support. Not enough though is it. They don't want the local working class fan anymore, they don't need them. They can replace them with tourists who will pay more and buy tat from the shop too. Fans who watch via a tv subscription and maybe go to on or two games a year are now more important than season ticket holders.
The biggest disappointment for me on a personal level, is the club have got into bed with and put their faith in the very people who tried to destroy it. I won't watch another match, I'm done with them. I've got a few subscriptions to City stuff(apps and things) that will be getting cancelled.
I do feel sorry for all the genuine fans of the clubs. They've been sold down the river by their greedy owners.

First of all, let me be clear. I have a local team that I support, I go to games when possible. I also visit lower league games, there's plenty of football for me to 'enjoy' on that level.

Now, when I'm watching CL footie, and paying top dollar to watch it (and tie myself contractually with my ISP for years as they're the only ones that provide CL in my country), I want the best games possible. Honestly, I don't want to watch teams like Red Star, Apoel, and similar, holding on for their dear lives for 90s mins, trying to not let in more than 5 goals per half.

The CL is not a quality product, and it's becoming worse and worse each year by letting minnow clubs have an easier route in, and by letting in even 4th placed teams from some domestic championships.

I just want good effing football, if Superleague is to happen, it'd guarantee that. Richest clubs with best players. Fine by me. Bring it on. As long as they don't dilute the quality of the league by expanding.

And yeah, I love the NBA type of league. Would be nice if they banned player buying/Selling in Superleague and instead just have player for player trades within the league.

Btw didn't Everton already told the "propa football" to eff off back in the 1990? You know, Premierleague founders and all that?
Haven't watched many of the 'elite teams' play each other this season have you. Awful games.

Right, 'saddest day'. You'll get over it and eat up the new product if it comes to life, as will everyone else. Don't worry about it. For all the big talk here about how you're all disgusted, 99% of you will most likely sub to it. Maybe not right away, but it'll happen.

I support Hajduk Split. I've grown up to a shitty, corrupt & rigged domestic league, where you need a miracle to happen for Dinamo not to win it. Or maybe 2-3 miracles, all in the same season, can't decide yet.

So their chances of winning anything but Croatian Cup are slim, let alone something else. But it's football, it's something I genuinely go for the experience of it to a stadium. Same with lower league football that I frequent sometimes.

But when I do want to watch & enjoy football, I watch only the big games and big clubs.
Siri: what does an event junkie look like?

You’re wearing yer Ma’s knicks lid.

I dont really see this happening anyway, as the Premier League are fairly toothless, kicking out the 6 clubs would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. But Ranger and Celtic coming in It is not the same as what the 12 clubs are doing because the Premier League would still exist with Promotion and Relegation. If 6 clubs were to leave the Premier League it is an unprecedented event, and the league would need to decide what to do. There would probably be no relegation that season and 6 clubs would have to be added from somewhere, or a decision made to play as a smaller league.

The main issue with the european super league is that there is no promotion and relegation to and from it. If teams qualified for this european super league through the premier league I dont think many people in England would oppose it, it would essentially just be giving 6 champions league places to the premier league. The premier league have been campaigning for a 5th place in the champions league for years. Eventually I believe Uefa and these 12 teams will have a chat and come to an agreement. No guaranteed places for any club and a slightly bigger competition of 24 teams.
So where is the promotion/relegation with the Scotttish clubs coming into the PL? If the PL pick and choose who they want, in essence it is the same as the ESL- a cartel.
