Champions League revamp

I wholeheartedly agree.

However, the consequences may drive some of the remaining 14 clubs into administration, and they may not be prepared to fight back as a result.

This is what I think the breakaway clubs are counting on.

There are ways for the Prem to play some dirty pool in response. The most obvious is to suspend the points deduction for administration, or to effectively do that by suspending relegation and promoting clubs upward to fill the void with appropriate timing.

It seems fairly clear that UEFA and the domestic leagues can hang together or hang separately. What is not clear is the resources they can muster to bring to the fight.

Has it occurred to anyone else that one of the three open slots may be reserved for whoever finks on the vote to kick the six clubs out? They only need one vote.

I don't think there'll need to be a vote - they've broken the rule against participation in non-sanctioned competition so blatantly and clearly that they're simply not eligible to compete in the Premier League as a result.

So the Premier League can just claim breach of contract and bin them.

Trouble is because of the huge volumes of money available, lawyers are keenly 8nterested and football is now seen as a business not a sport. I doubt you could stop a person seeking employment at one of the super league clubs, whether fifa like it or not.
Internationals - sure - because that's down to selection.

I hate it.
There's a myriad of punishments, all viable.

Any player who doesn't play in a FIFA sanctioned competition can't represent FIFA sanctioned national teams.

Any club under the dominion of UEFA/FIFA cannot participate in transfers with non-sanctioned clubs.

Any club participating in a non-sanctioned competition cannot participate in any gloabl FIFA/UEFA et al. sanctioned competition.

They do that, that's the end of this. It's over. They can sod off if they want but they're in their own irrelevant bubble, paying mercenaries until the JP Morgan money dries up and they realise they're basically the Chinese league all over again.

Absolutely. They will have briefing their pundits very thoroughly in the coming days to not say anything in air that might come back to bite them on the arse in the near future. For Sky, Neville has made his thoughts crystal clear, yet I still wouldn't be surprised to see him as the face of Sky Super League coverage if it happens. It's all about money, after all.
I honestly can't see Gary neville sticking with sky if they choose to cover it. I don't like the bloke. But he was visibly shaken and upset about the news.

He does love football, I've got to give him that.

What is thoughts of the Barcelona fans over this?

Perhaps more importantly, what does Messi think? I suspect that this was the reason for the timing of his father's visit.

PSG not being involved puts him in a position to bring enormous pressure to bear, if he so chooses.

All about the €€€ mate.

Best case scenario for us is top 6 booted, much reduced TV deals which the market adjusts accordingly and £30 million players become £10 million players, wages reduced in English Football and hopefully Big Uzzy bankrolling us to the top of the hill at BMD.

Personally I dont think this is a great outcome for us, as Everton. Just imagine living in a world where there is a league that can cherry pick all our top players away, and we have a level financial playing field against half of the leagues across Europe. At the moment players come to the Premier League because our teams pay more than the other leagues. They say its because the league is competitive, but they come for the cash. We already have to put up with the fact that anyone with Champions League can take Everton players. This proposed super league would make it a bit worse for us.

I'm still about 20 pages behind at this point. But Leicester could be about to do the League and Cup double by default!

Even if this 'competition' never takes place given the intent, the planning, selfishness and damage it would cause all clubs involved need to be given severe punishments.

The actual Champions League revamp isn't much better than the Super League either. They'll change the format in that within 3 years sounds a snoozefest.
