Champions League revamp

There's a myriad of punishments, all viable.

Any player who doesn't play in a FIFA sanctioned competition can't represent FIFA sanctioned national teams.

Any club under the dominion of UEFA/FIFA cannot participate in transfers with non-sanctioned clubs.

Any club participating in a non-sanctioned competition cannot participate in any gloabl FIFA/UEFA et al. sanctioned competition.

They do that, that's the end of this. It's over. They can sod off if they want but they're in their own irrelevant bubble, paying mercenaries until the JP Morgan money dries up and they realise they're basically the Chinese league all over again.

YOu could well be right - all I am saying is the chat in the last couple of hours is that these sanctions probably wont stand up in court because of competition law.

I suppose thats the point of the courts & why it will drag out.

Trouble is because of the huge volumes of money available, lawyers are keenly 8nterested and football is now seen as a business not a sport. I doubt you could stop a person seeking employment at one of the super league clubs, whether fifa like it or not.
Internationals - sure - because that's down to selection.

I hate it.

A transfer is the payment from a buying club to cease the existing contract of a player with a club so he can undertake a new one elsewhere.

If the existing governing bodies stated that a non-sanctioned club is not allowed to enter discussions on that basis, they absolutely can do that. It's not stopping employment, as there's nothing stopping the player buying up his contract and leaving on a 'free' and going elsewhere, but they can certainly stop two clubs negotiating for that asset. For example, see any given FIFA transfer ban implemented in recent years.

Personally I dont think this is a great outcome for us, as Everton. Just imagine living in a world where there is a league that can cherry pick all our top players away, and we have a level financial playing field against half of the leagues across Europe. At the moment players come to the Premier League because our teams pay more than the other leagues. They say its because the league is competitive, but they come for the cash. We already have to put up with the fact that anyone with Champions League can take Everton players. This proposed super league would make it a bit worse for us.

Personally I wouldn’t give a toss that we’d never be able to compete with the Super League clubs. That would be a completely separate entity, one that I’d hope we were never ever involved in no matter how successful we become. Providing they’re all kicked out their domestic leagues of course. Plus any player we signed, I’d be inserting a Super League release clause in their contract, and the bidding starts at £150m.

Financially it aint great right away however you have to ask the question what positive do we have currently paying Benard £120k a week, Tosun 80k a week?

Would you rather have James Rodriguez in your team finishing 7th-8th every season or Liam Boyce but the chance to actually win the league / FA Cup?

I know which one I would rather.

Will they even be bothered about still Competing in national leagues? 15 teams is nearly enough for a full season
