Champions League revamp

Everything is up in the air but I'd be reasonably sure of some degree of a general crackdown on silent 3rd-party investors as a quid pro-quo for any settlement / compromise that Everton and other clubs would be ok in agreeing to, if if stops the Super League concept.

If it doesn't stop it and there was a split, which is highly unlikely, I very much doubt that we would retain the same appeal to Usmanov either for current sponsorship, or the prospect of taking a shareholding in the longer-term.

That's why this whole thing is critical, for every club in one way or another.

The worry is powers that be get all aroused by Germany and try that route of 51% fan ownership however that league is a sham with Bayern dominating it season in season out.

If you was UEFA you want to encourage £££ coming into the clubs remaining to keep things afloat. If we try scare off investors it will do more damage than it would heal. End FFP, encourage spending but all clubs have to sign a 20+ year agreement to stay in their respective league which by then the Super League would collapse out of boredom.

......playing Devils Advocate;

1) If invited, would Everton have joined the European League?

2) Would your reaction be the same if Everton had joined?

There will be allegations of ‘sour grapes’, so might even be worth a options/questionnaire thread.
1) I’d really hope not!

2) I’d be done with it all, and quite possibly never watch any football ever again!

Gary Neville reckons Leeds should just stand aside and let Liverpool score at will tonight.

The RS don’t want any competition.

I for one hope Leeds do exactly that!

You could actually imagine Biesla doing something like this - he let Villa score an open goal back in the Championship over Leeds refusing to put the ball out which led to them scoring.

Seems the Govt are keen to protect Football at all levels so here's a plan

1) The Police are legally bound to attend football matches where there is a risk of disorder (basically all of the 6 will attract crowds large enough to tick that box)

2) Make the cost of Policing so high as to wreck their financial model.

3) Job Done!

If this goes ahead and these clubs are kicked out of their domestic leagues and European comps this could be a rugby league/ union level split.

you know those yanks will tamper with the rules to make it more appealing to them hence spawning a totally new game.

just a thought

Now the committed they should each receive a 40-50 point deduction and a £100m for even suggesting it.

if any club participates then it’s expulsion and all titles expunged from the record books and council withdrawing license to host any home games.

if they want to rejoin they start from the very beginning at the bottom of the football pyramid.

Should any players who participated should be banned from all international competition, so no World Cup or continental tournaments.

that’s what I would do

It would be good to see some sort of punishment. I cant see it happening though. If it was up to me they would have a 20 point deduction imposed in the league for 2 seasons and a 6 point deduction in Europe imposed for the next 2 seasons that they qualify and play in europe. I think thats fair becasue it makes it very difficult for them to qualify for the champions league for 2 seasons and then once the deduction is over it will make it very hard for them to get out of the group stage for a couple of seasons.

The Premier League should have responded by now, they are making themselves look weak and fearful of the gang of six.
