Champions League revamp

Government forcing fan ownership. The final outcome may upend everything these owners want. By doing this, they are forcing government action.
The backlash feels like it’s going to be huge.

I honestly wouldn't want fan ownership - good luck telling our owners to spend £500 million on BMD but lose over half their stake of the club in the process!

Yeah was never going to go great but could at least have tried to put forward a case - instead they have just done the initial pr drop and everything since , apart from some twitter bots, has been from those that oppose it.

I think that trying to defend it would have done more harm than good. The strategy is clearly to let the sound and fury play out and hope it signifies nothing.

Look at it this way - if you go on TV and try to defend it, and you're phenomenal at it, all anyone's going to remember is the other side having their pop at you. If you defend it badly, the story is that you're a greedy bellend.

Correct.

That’s why the World Cup is always so great, even if you’re watching Kuwait v Bulgaria. The games mean something every step of the way. That is so much more important than the players or teams you’re watching.

Football itself is what makes football great. Stoke v West Brom is just as likely to serve up an entertaining game as Chelsea v Man City. The stakes are what matter.

One of my favourite ever World Cups was 2002. South Korea topping the group ahead of Portugal, knocking out Italy and Spain.

Tremendous stuff.

They expected everybody to say "Please dont leave us", instead everybody just said "BYE NOW".

But sadly I'm sure that wont be the stance in tomorrows EPL meeting, there will be some very scared owners, as we saw with Parish.

Its ok for UEFA to go nuclear, all they lose is their organisation, its a vastly different prospect for owners of clubs.

Did I watch a different interview or something?

Yes you did Tubey - MG is sadly spot on. Parrish made it clear the PL needs the six and discussions tomorrow will reflect that. Even if this is the case, Im dissapointed he was so candid about, it's ridiculous pandering from him

They want the money they generate.

Cos lets be honest, they all generate the most, they want it all, they don't want to share with "lesser clubs", they want to share it will other teams that bring revenue and Spurs.

I can kinda see their point, but its selfish and greedy, hence everybody reaction.

In a nutshell really.

But the owners of United, RS, Arsenal, didn't build the club's and their fanbase, they inherited it and already reaped the rewards of that. So they're not entitled to every penny imo.

The drama of it was great though, host nation right up for it, Ronaldo in his pomp, no vuvuzelas. Tremendous WC.

It was a good WC- was great to different teams come to the party. The world cups in the period of 98-2006 were peak football for me growing up.
