Not going to lie, if I could watch every Everton match through my Prime membership, that would be amazing. Amazon does sound like a good bet though. In the States they've been increasingly involved with broadcasting NFL games.Btw there is no way JP Morgan would be financing this without there already being a mega broadcasting deal in place. My guess is amazon but possibly facebook as well.
Sheffield United is an anomaly. There was talk of them being the worst team ever at one point, and that’s 30 years of teams. I understand your point, but it’s an anomaly.
The Premier League is a vastly superior league overall compared to the other leagues, and I place that in part down to the fact there is equal pay across all 20 teams.
Will a West Brom win a league? No.. but will they cause upsets and provide entertainment along the way, probably.
Pour yourself a drink and listen to this one then !! Thank me later..
The problem is the 14 are not homogenous in their aims. Burnley, Brighton, Crystal Palace and the like need the renegade six to keep the PL TV value inflated. None are serious about ever competing in top level European competition.
That dude looks harder than Big Dunc, which is saying something.
Less. The scary number is the 60% or so contributed by foreign broadcasters to the Prem's TV money.
How much less is probably not knowable outside the networks, who have a pretty good idea of who is watching and how they distribute over clubs' fanbases. They know what they'll bid.
Somebody with no public goodwill to spend but lots of penetration, in other words. Makes sense.
There is not equal pay though, the Premier league needs reform itself
They didn’t inherit it. They paid money for it. Unless fans walk away from clubs they are sitting ducks
I hope so, I’ve been holding since February (though I don’t expect it, I just want skin in the game. That whole movement is just mental).AMC will finish them off hopefully their short exposure is ridiculous
To be fair to Newcastle fans, as disgustingly repulsive as the idea of the Saudi takeover was and is, it was stopped not because of human rights abuses and the dismemberment of dissidents in Turkish embassies, but because the renegade six saw them as a threat. This is what makes all their pious talk of getting "fair value" for their great status nauseating. If the Saudis took over Newcastle and went to war with FFP - and won - then another behemoth would want its share. It's nothing to do with history, tradition, or even a club's size. It's all to do with who happens to be a club's owner right now. And right now, these owners have overreached due to desperation and greed.Out of the 14 remainers, only Newcastle fans will assume they deserved a place in the ESL founders list!
A. DOMESTIC TV MONEY B. OVERSEES TV MONEYDon't they all get a base amount and then get more based on league position? That's not too bad.
Lets not ignore the fact though that the likes of the Premier League are why football is in the mess its in now. Right now I suppose its the lesser of two evils as at least the structure is the same as it was more or less.
The thing I find baffling is even if the sky six plan came to fruition and they were able to retain league and european tournament status unscathed (seems implausible) how would it even be feasible? Would it just lead to further hoarding of bloated extensive squads or would they prioritize the spectacle of the super league at the expense of everything else. Players are already breaking down at increasing rates due to the condensed covid season so I don't know how that would work even in their ideal scenario.
The difference being that we are not seeking to exclude those clubs or get special status. Do we have different ambitions? Of course we do - but not to the extent of giving ourselves better rights than them. This is where we differ from the renegades right now.Honestly this is just as bad as the 6 clubs looking down their noses at us. It's just another level of snobbery.
In fairness foreign TV deals are currently worth about 35-40% of the PL money.
