Hmmm, back in 1888 the "Founding Fathers" of football: Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke, West Bromwich Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers created the game as we know and love and it does have multiple leagues. 133 years later it is still going strong, a couple of entitled "Baby Clubs" aside who have been mismanaged to the point they face financial oblivion. It is not just god that knows about this, no, the other big guy Father Christmas is always watching too and we can be sure that his naughty list got a page or so longer yesterday.I truly have zero idea whether ESL will work out or not, but with anything in society, there's always immense resistance to change. Football is nothing new.
Whilst the current "closed-shop" plan is ludicrous, I can see the "founding fathers" being open to a more accessible system which allows for multiple leagues to exist and having a promotion/relegation system down the line. Now either in 5 years down the line, this could be something that fails miserably and ruins football, or it could very well be something that revolutionizes football. We just have to wait and find out, only God knows the true answer. But the society has never been kind to change and the ESL is just another case of this.
Lol at a Tory government being anti capitalist. This, I think, is where we’re headed.
Legislation, if it’s carefully worded enough, makes it possible to prevent this kind of breakaway league ever being legal.
It doesn’t matter if the motivation is to win votes if they are able to deliver what we want here.
I think this time there will be a regulator established to curtail those threats.Yep. Always a threat of a breakaway league of some description and then they come back to the table and get increased power. Will probably happen again.
The Premier League is the golden goose the government want to protect.Lol at a Tory government being anti capitalist.

While I think the whole concept of a super league is totally abhorrent, to penalise one specific team and not the entire group isn’t justifiable.
Speaking to a colleague yesterday who is an administrator for the spirit of Shankly, he says that there are conversations talking about them starting AFC Liverpool. He even suggested that it could be the case that as we are moving that they might be able to play at Goodison! I had to point out that it was because we had allowed a similar situation when we left Anfield that we are all in this predicament now, so no thanks!
Wear them as a badge of honour when you go back to rawk and whenever you watch your team getting whipped by real Madrid. My inbox is full of middle fingers. I love it!
And I love how scared UEFA is about losing power, influence and their money makers. It's brilliant.
They cannot, cannot be allowed to back track.Reports on talksport couple of them cracking, hope this is the case
Love your optimism, but there’s really no chance Everton gets to qualify for super league.Wear them as a badge of honour when you go back to rawk and whenever you watch your team getting whipped by real Madrid.
Agreed....the more I see the reaction to this: the more I hear the debate & see the detail, the more I don’t see this happening.
There might be fortunes at play, but I can see players not wanting to be part of it. It could end up like the Chinese Super League with older, star names looking for one final pay day.
