Champions League revamp

Utd are a plc. The fans would have to raise about £1bn to buy the 51%. It will never happen.

Maybe read it?

While point 3 provides immediate protection, the way to provide long-term protection for English clubs is by adopting the German 50+1 rule on supporter ownership of clubs.

Between 2000 and 2020, we saw huge growth in supporter ownership of clubs in the UK through the establishment of Supporters Direct, a body set up to promote democratically-controlled, not-for-profit supporters’ trusts. We now need to build on those foundations.

While we can’t move to a German model overnight, we call on the Government and the game’s authorities to adopt it as the long-term direction and create a legislative framework to support it. Where clubs shares are being sold, either by shareholders or through new share issues, the legislation should require vendors to make shares available on a first refusal basis to recognised, democratically-controlled supporters’ trusts. This rule would apply until trusts own 51% of club shares. The effect would mean that any prospective owner would need the consent of the supporters.

The Government should consider other tax and financial incentives to help trusts build up the shareholding.

An easy way to "punish" these clubs is to make them sell these players that they obviously can not afford hence them going into debt and trying to leave the league behind to make more money.

You know, like they should be doing?

Its annoying me greatly, so basically because these BIG CLUBS are living way beyond their means everybody else should have to suffer to ensure that they can keep living that lifestyle?

It's pathetic.

But they still have to have the money to buy them? So basically it's a token gesture...

Club: You want these shares?

Supporters trust: Sorry, we can't afford them

"How can we do this financially though? What reason would Moshiri have to pay the clubs debts and invest when he doesn’t even own the club? Fans aren’t going to be paying the debts, fines, wages etc."

If 50+1 happens in England the top 6 dominate for eternity.
Itoo am worried about the possibility of west Ham and Leicester dominating for all eternity

Sky and the likes need to cease pedaling the line about officials wanting no sanctions. The Prem needs to be pressured into penalties - bans, points off the board, unprecedented fines. They've brought the game and league into disrepute.

The Scab 6 need to be bullied mercilessly regardless of what happens too. None of this 'Don't blame the players.'

The Crimson lot had their chance to join Leeds' protest. They didn't. Their statement came after it was obvious everything was crumbling
Should have got one of their players to bite an opponent , they'd have jumped at putting them t-shirts on.

Do we really want KOPITES having a say on how LFC are run ...

Watch it before you down rep me. Paul talking complete sense. Hopefully more Liverpool fans feel this way about their owners and the actions they've taken here.

"...goes without saying but should be said. That the project put forward was never going to stand without the support of the fans..."

Well clearly it was because should signed up to it without consulting the fans.

I've got to be admit , that's one eloquent man with insights and a sense of humour rarely seen out in the wild .
Colour me amazed .
Not even a sly dig about us .

Right, now I know there are far more pressing matters but I do feel something needs to be said; it is the second time I have seen this "damp squid" phrase used in this thread and it needs to be stopped before it spirals out of control.

Of course squids are damp, they live in the ocean. The idiom you require is damp squib.
Nah, i prefer the Squid. Sounds ace
