Champions League revamp

The more i'm listening to the fallout the happier I am. Maybe there won't be direct repercussions, but these clubs have lost so much power within the PL and they've also lost so much power within UEFA. Yes UEFA aren't perfect, but they've been forced to change things for the big clubs for the past few decades. They can now form a CL they actually want without care for the threats of these so called bigger clubs.

Havent they literally just squeezed through a new look CL which plays into the hands of the “big clubs” anyway? I wish I were as optimistic.

Ceferin came out calling them all snakes and liars one day, and is telling everyone to move on the next. Very disappointing indeed.
Those clubs came cowering back, UEFA certainly regained some power over them and established firm alliance with Bayern and PSG, Rummenigge and Khelaiffi (PSG chairman) both are given powerful positions inside UEFA yesterday

Can’t believe people are saying any punishment would only punish the fans and should only target the owners.
Too many people regurgitate what people like Souness and Carragher say when most of the time they chat wham. Can I refer you to one of my post earlier in this thread.

Souness has just been talking on Sky about Spurs and Mourinho. He was saying that Spurs were not as strong as Mou thought before he joined and used them getting to the Champions League as an example. He said that they should never have been there because they lost 13 League games that season. Spurs finished 4th on 71 points.
A quick check revealed that the RS lost 14 League games in 2004/2005 when they won the Champions League. They finished 5th on 58 points.
Pundits are generally thick.

But this has been in the works for months/years and based on pleasing those bigger clubs. It was the bigger clubs forcing this change through (whilst simultaneously trying to leave). Now, just like the PL, UEFA have seen the empty threat and no longer need to appease these clubs. With the clubs not in the ECA for the moment we'll definitely see a power shift toward the likes of Ajax/Roma/Valencia/PSG/Bayern/Dortmund etc

Right, now I know there are far more pressing matters but I do feel something needs to be said; it is the second time I have seen this "damp squid" phrase used in this thread and it needs to be stopped before it spirals out of control.

Of course squids are damp, they live in the ocean. The idiom you require is damp squib.
Nope. Squids can be pretty dry too. Was flying out from Seychelles when a Russian tourist tried to bring one into the plane. In a plastic bag. Dry but smelly it was, that squid.

They have developed the corners of the ground. They can't touch 2 stands as one backs o to the cricket club and one onto a main road.

They have bought back their training ground, invested loads into youth development, helped the council build 2 big sport complexes (leisure box and prairie sports village), employed coaches to help local schools with sports.
A what?! Like playing cowboys and killing indians? Shooting buffaloes? On the prairies of Burnley?

Good statement, this.

Have to beg to differ about the claim that Liverpool is being treated with thinly disguised contempt by the PL and broadcasters. Which team always has the longest breaks between games over the holiday period? Which team, until recently at least, got unbelievable benefit from VAR? Which team has BT, Sky and the BBC practically licking their buttholes and jerking off while waxing eloquent about another Thiago five-yard masterpass? Which team always has its pregame dirge played in full while the commentators maintain a dignified, reverent silence? Which team has an inordinate number of its former players or sycophants infesting the television gantries and newspaper columns? If anything, that club is treated with blatant ball-licking by virtually every media outlet going and is handled with kid gloves by the league.

Has it gone quiet? i think i've been in the world football forum more in the last 72hrs more than i have the whole time i have been here.

I'm getting a nose bleed.
Yes. Now that the rest of us are expecting further punishment the owners are trying to figure out how to stop this happening again without causing too much fuss from those 6 teams.

Uefa has already bent over and told them where to stick it in.

I want creative punishments for the teams that transgressed. Instead of docking then points every one of 14 teams should select one of their players that will be required by the sky 6 to field in their starting lineup. There would be no greater repercussion for Man city than having iwobi start on the right wing against PSG , definitely dissuade them from further treachery.

They're referring to football fans as a whole.

But don't let that stop you with your rant mate ;) lol
