He'll take the best contract with the most amount of guaranteed playing time. Simple as that.

Talked to him this winter at a weird coincidence. He's a great lad all around.

Edit: Of course his tenure at Brentford may have changed his mind.

So why did he sign for us the following season if he was so dead against coming to Everton.
Because he had settled in and enjoyed his time here I would imagine and realised we were a better stepping stone than the Throstle’s , of course.
I don’t think it’s that surprising that he initially preferred to go back to a club where he had enjoyed significant success the previous season.

You believe what you want
But there’s no way he wanted to go back to West Brom and Everton come in and nick him 10mins before the window closed. Definitely seems like a player that’s was dead set on West Brom.
Abd I can just see Jose getting in the phone at 11:30 telling lukaku where to go ?

Likewise you can believe what you want but that was how it was reported at the time by reputable journalists , alongside the fact that we hadn’t gone in for Lukaku at the time but another out of favour Chelski striker (whose name currently evades me) but Mourinho offered Lukaku instead.

Again an awful a lot things seemed to happen in that last hour of the window
Which I watched With my own eyes.

So he’s desperate to go back to West Brom and they have probably been in contact with him, his agent and Chelsea, long before deadline day, but Within hours to go he still hasn’t made his mind up. Then Jose gets on the phone because he’s had a premonition that Everton new manager who’s just been relegated is going to get Everton playing good football and fighting for the top 4. Definitely sounds believable

His fellow compatriot kevin Mirallas persuaded him to join. He was at the Belgian team camp when he decided to sign for us

One player that was winning motm awards against top sides under Lampard
jokemore.webp

Sadly we have many a cuck in the fanbase who love talking us down.

The same bunch who then moan at the owner and board over a "lack of ambishun" lol ?‍♂️
This, from the man who spent all last summer telling us the best we could hope for was the Andros Townsends of the world and to keep our heads above water under Benitez until the stadium was built.

Parody of a poster.

Which was 100% accurate.

We only had £1.7 million to spend but even that was down to Moshers convincing the world we had treble the Covid losses of every other club !

I live in reality however I'll never believe some tinpot outfit like Brentford is more attractive a proposition than the mighty blues.

They are the team who gave him a chance to continue playing. He may feel that he owes them more than half a season.
