Just wondering what his favorable position is? On the site he is listed as a striker but every time I see him play he seems to play in the AM position or on the wing. His qualities do seem to favor the AM role with good balance, quick on the turn, creative and good technique, does anyone know if that's his preferred position?

He's looked like a younger version of Naismith whenever I've seen him play. Not slating the lad, just don't think he's cut out to be an out-and-out striker. He seems more comfortable as a second striker.

Deffo deserves more pre-season chances to prove his worth than Kone, although I suspect Martinez will persevere with Kone (and Barry, Hibbert, and like he did with Alcaraz) to save face with his bosses rather than what's best for the team/squad...

Was quite impressed with him last night. He reminds me of Osman a little (in a good way) but he can actually shoot. Certainly looked like a better option in that role on the left than Barkley or Naismith.

Australian media reporting his gonna go on loan to Central Coast Mariners as part of our partnership with them. They also asked about Gethin Jones but got told no. Assume thats probably the end of McAleny's career at Everton if this happens

"The Central Coast Mariners could be about to receive a timely boost courtesy of their partnership with Everton FC. At least one Toffees player is set to embark on a season-long loan with the Gosford club, rumoured to be athletic striker Connor McAleny, 23. It is understood that coach Tony Walmsley’s inquiry about Everton’s 19-year-old Australian right-back Gethin Jones was met with a polite but firm “no thank you”."

Maybe he just happened to have some very good games in preseason and doesn't show anything like that sort of consistency in training? Who knows. He did look bloody good though, and I have no idea what the standard is in Australia, maybe it's the last stage in getting him ready for some prem action.
