But it's not a case of the Cup OR the League. We can't trade losing against Palace for staying in the Premier League. It doesn't work like that. Football is a game where confidence is a huge factor for a successful team. The reverse also applies - when your head goes down so do your chances of winning. For evidence of this, have a look at our results this season.
This is the real game, not FIFA22 or Football Manager or whatever 21st century version of Subbuteo you kids play these days.

Look at Newcastle following there win over us. Still a bang average side yet went about 7 games unbeaten.

Thats football.

We enjoy the Cup Win (which for many of us including myself and my little lad it'll be the 1st trophy we'll have ever seen us win) and go again.

Tomorrow has absolutely no correlation on the remaining league games.

Those happy to see us throw tomorrow when we have 2 weeks off following are bonkers imo.

It was just a circuitous dig at Martinez biggest advocate tbh . There's no contradiction between putting in professional performance against Palace and performing in the next league game.

I don't think there's any pressure as such. The main thing is staying up, so this game is a free hit.

Saying that though we have to look at this as a winnable game, and a great chance to get through to the semi finals.

Winners will likely face Chelsea, City or Liverpool weekend after Champions League 2nd legs (the first two away midweek). Chelsea play Tuesday, City/Liverpool Wednesday so, unless City play Liverpool (on Sunday) one of them will have to play Wednesday and Saturday. Presume Chelsea would play Saturday.

I don't know where I wrote that if we go out we will stay up?

Play whatever our best available team is and empty the tank. Its a very tough and unfair turnaround but give it our best shot. If we can defend well again like Thursday then anything can happen
It's a disgrace we have this on Sunday early KO.

Team tomorrow IMO should be:

---------Begovic

Kenny Holgate Keane Godfrey

--------------VDB
---Doucoure------Gomes

Iwobi----DCL-----Gray

We have to protect Richarlison and Gordon.

Begovic

Coleman Keane Branthwaite Godfrey

Townie Doucoure Gomes Richarlison

DCL Rondon

Would be tempted with that - get it to Townsend to fizz some balls into the 2 big galoots up top.

We aint keeping a cleansheet so go for the win.

Gordon and Gray off the bench to inject some pace with Keane/Branthwaite some height to attack set pieces from.

VdB cup tied.

My fear is Docuoure goes down. Not that he’s playing well but the Allan suspension kills us in midfield where we are so weak anyway.
