I'd like to channel Walter Smith and say "disappointing", but it's pretty much everything I expected. One emotional win against the superclub that is Eddie Howe's Newcastle doesn't transform a dire set of players. They've been utterly found out this season and over a series of managers.

With 5 at the back nobody takes responsibility for marking and picking up runners and there’s still a gaping hole in the middle of the pitch somehow? Have whatever gameplay you want but if you concede easily from set pieces you’re on a hiding to nothing

We seem to concentrate how we play at the top end of the pitch. When it doesn't work... we're a mess.

The reasoning, in theory, is quite simple.

Usually more defenders on the pitch = Less goals conceded.

Obviously isn't the case though
