Cycling thread

Philipsen clearly the Boss right now. Heard that Jakobsen has pulled out today and has not started the stage. He's rated slightly faster than Philipsen in a pure test of speed but he hasn't been able to make anything happen this Tour, whereas Philipsen is winning for fun. Doesn't seem like Jakobesen is quite on the same page as his lead out man Morkov (which would be a Jakobsen problem).
Looks like it could get easier for him.
Cadel Ewan seems in big difficulties on this stage, may be hors delai.

When will the GC get interesting again?
I am new to this, and must admit I found yesterday's stage win a bit 'so what?'
It was a stage win over a very hard stage. A hard attacking day's racing race In which changes in the top ten came about.
Whilst the yellow jersey is the top prize in the race, there's a lot of other prizes and action and tactics.
As a beginner you must find alot of it mystifying. Stick with it, read about it more and you'll discover many races within the race.

Unfortunate crash earlier - several abandonments including Bardet and James Shaw.

Shaw has made a superb showing - very talented rider who made the step to WT with Lotto-Soudal a few years back, but had a torrid time and basically bombed out back to domestic level. Didn't give up and stepped back up with EF, was in the mix at the sharp end of mountain breakaways - huge confidence boost for his career.

I think it's a matter of time before Pogacar takes yellow. I'm surprised he didn't attack from further out yesterday up the Grand Colombier. His team director needs sacking if that was the plan to attack so near the top.
