theres beauts in this thread talking about gibbo and having a pop at him in the exact same way rawk is talking about sturridge, honestly you could swap some of these posts directly into rawk and not notice the difference

There is a world of difference between the two.

Sturridge has done FAR more them than Gibson has for us therefore he deserves more patience which most of their lot won't give him. Plus Sturridge hasn't embarrassed their club with drunken hit and runs when he's supposed to be working on getting fit. Sturridge isn't a reported alcoholic who cares more about getting wasted with mates than he does about his career.

Surely if he drank all the time the club would know, he would be a mess in training. I'd like to think the doctors and staff at the club could spot a hungover player amongst a squad of super fit professionals. Surely that would give the club grounds to terminate his contract and save the club a fortune in wages? It's not like they are waiting to see if he comes good and cash in on him, he'd probably go for buttons if we sold him

Yeah but people would rather believe the tittle-tattle they read in comic rags than trust the club management to know what they are doing coz the papers are always right.

Junior has admitted partying all the time and hes still on the books. Gibsons been done for drink driving and hit and run yet still on the books.

mindblowing.

When was the last time he really did anything impressive for us, though? Admittedly, my memory is absolutely terrible so I may have missed something.

lots of things are reported Pauline.

you´d be at the front of the village mob holding a pitchfork if this were olden times.

Decent player, some times very good, but unfortunately plagued by injuries. Shouldnt be drink driving but I have no idea if he has done that more than once or if he is unprofessional when he comes to managing himself. Neither do the rest of us, I am pretty sure. He will be gone by the summer at the very latest at any rate.

RIP Gibbopotamus

didn't he play in one of the Wolfsburg games? I remember him having a particularly good game last year in Europe against someone I'm sure. It was during that period last year where all our passes were either sideways or backwards and he came on with his forward passing and rocked my tiny mind!

I think (pure speculation) it has to do with the legal wrangle and subsequent media coverage it would take to get him off the books. I doubt his contract has specific language regarding drinking or even drink driving and therefore unless we really really wanted him gone or he was crashing cars left, right, and center putting cyclists in hospitals and all that then the club would rather just not deal with it.

Bearing that in mind I think Everton could then have cancelled his contract as behaviour unbecoming to our club.

Was against Young Boys at home, a superb pass that Kev scored from.

Gibson certainly has the talent when he is match fit, it is just that for whatever reason he can't be relied on to be so and at 28 his fitness issues aren't something he is likely to grow out of like you sometimes see with younger players.

Shame for him, and quite possible that some of the reported drinking issues are related to depression caused by his injury history.
