I think the alleged charges are quite minor on the scale really, I doubt he would receive any significant sentence if found guilty.
The few footballers that I can think off who have received custodial sentences for driving related incidents have found clubs again after serving them, so it shows clubs are willing to employ them even if they are notorious.
I'd suspect it is pretty unlikely he'll get custodial unless he was well over (3.5x +) and the injuries to the cyclist, and damaged caused, are severe.I think the alleged charges are quite minor on the scale really, I doubt he would receive any significant sentence if found guilty.
Drink driving is the least of it. The fact he hit someone and then failed to stop is a pretty poor reflection on his character.
People who knock someone over and are too much of a coward to phone an ambulance or even get out to see if the person they've hit is ok are scumbags. Regardless of whether the courts consider it a minor offence I hope he never plays for us again.
'If one wishes to remain inconspicuous, it is not advisable to drive through a bus station after midnight, having ignored a “no entry” sign. This is particularly true if you happen to be the centre-forward for one of the city’s two professional football teams, and someone valued at many millions of pounds. Something else should have given him pause for thought: an imminent court case for an alleged assault charge committed while already on probation.
Ferguson takes up the story. Speaking from a safe distance of nearly 20 years later and in front of an adoring, non-judgmental audience, at a sportsman’s dinner in Liverpool, he says: “It was quite funny – well, it was not funny – I had been out on the lash, know what I mean?”
At the police station, Ferguson was put in a cell. Fortunately, some “bluenose” police officers, hearing of their striker’s predicament, got involved and handed him jugs of water through the latch while a doctor was called. According to Ferguson, he was only 15 milligrams over the limit, though this surprised him. “I don’t know how that happened – I had drunk five bottles of red wine!”

The failing to stop and report an accident is a key factor that the magistrate may consider, but still will go on those two factors primarily.
It's more likely he'll get community service, a driving ban and a hefty fine at most. Still, doesn't show Darron in a good light at all.
Also, adds weight to the ol' rumour that he's a bit of a drinker... See you later Gibbo lad!
Sounds like he needs serious help
That being said, poor form from him
My hope would be that the club release him from his contract but send him to rehab. They don't have to do that of course, but I think it's the right thing to do in this instance. I don't think he should play for us again, but if the club at least helps him on the right path to getting his life sorted out, I think some good can come from a terrible situation
The club would be well within their rights to cast him aside at this stage, but I like to think Everton is better than that
Same here. Many people do not realise that it is no longer a 'traffic' offence as it was for many a year, but rather it is a criminal offence.I would be sacked instantly if caught drink driving, on personal time or working hours
I'm not so sure if this will happen. There's a been a fair few examples of players receiving bans for speeding and drinking and still being employed.and sacked too, just hope the court case is prompt which is unlikely
That's fine by me but I would question if you would have the same response if it was Lukaku who was alleged to have committed the crime. whether we should get rid of him, fair play if you genuinely would like.

I'd be suspended immediately and if proven, I'd be dismissed: gross misconduct; bringing organisation into disrepute; unable to fulfil my duties.

As mentioned above, I and many others will be gone, however Everton would be losing an asset (of sorts) so they may keep him on.
Really it all depends on what Martinez and others think of him behind closed doors. If he is a liability and they want rid then yes maybe so.
No one diedyeh but he hit someone and left the scene which is the worst thing.
