I'm sure all players do. But imagine you get a call to do your dream job and they say we'll give you 2 weeks to impress us, you'll probably go that extra mile, push yourself that bit more. 2 years into that job you aren't going to be doing that, the drop off is human nature. You get a few that will and a few that are so talented everything looks easy, but they are the exception.

Even if it's small percentages they all add up and that's why I stand by what I said about Lingard. If he signs permanently then there will likely be a drop off from how he looks at the moment. He won't suddenly turn crap but he won't hit the same numbers.

True. But numbers don't tell the full story. It is his overall game that has lifted them, more than the fact he is on a hot streak.
