2024/25 David Moyes

Look at us, taking off Yakubu and bring on Johnson.. these days we are lucky to have a forward in the starting 11.
The Yak, what a man, what a player, what a smile. Loved him. If only we could get somebody like him again in the near future. Also the way certain clubs are stokepiling players, there will certainly be very good players available that won't break the bank.

Moyes will look at them stockpiled players and laugh. Then dip into the league of Ireland for a world class player or two.

And it was ‘contract Dave’ before Kevin Thelwell and then Marcel Brands before that. All wrong and wide of the mark. No professional in those positions are picking up the phone to someone to ‘leak’ stuff. That’s not how football works.
The thing I don't get is, in who's interest is it to release spoilers of team information five minutes before it is officially announced it if isn't officially sanctioned ?

It's not for the fans, we don't need softening of the blow or a gee up, it just stinks of unprofessionalism.

The manager usually outlines who is available in his press conference days before hand.

Firstly, i dont really believe a manager makes THAT big a difference as we would like to believe. What both teams had at that point was a long term instilled culture, reliable back room staff, proud fans and a club that pulled together all the way from the groundsman to the manager.
There’s a fair amount of truth in that but the manager can have a massive difference in making a team worse - fielding players out of position or who are out of form, making poor substitutions in a match, giving players poor direction, not working on set pieces, not working on attacking, not working on scoring etc.

You know, a bit like Dyche.

Leaking the team 5 mins before it's announced has no effect on the game or the opposition. Fans just feel it's like giving the Polish the heads up on the Nazi invasion of Gdansk
