2024/25 David Moyes

I was hugely opposed to his return, and saw nothing in the performance tonight to make me feel any different.

He picked pretty the identical side and tactics Dyche would've picked had he still been in charge. For starters why on earth would anyone pick Harrison on the right where he's stunk the gaff out all season? If you're still going to play him then give him a go in his true position on the left and Doucouré ffs? What does this guy have to do to get rightly dropped?

And throwing the players under the bus in that interview and not taking any responsibility himself is not a great sign but hey ho he said 'we' and 'us' in his pre match press conference which got the easily pleased all giddy so all's well with some I suppose.

What else did you expect?. He’s probably had like 2 training sessions. And who else is he meant to play on the right?. Jesper is even worse.

What do you want him to do? Tell them they all played amazing and if we carry on like that we will be fine? They are [Poor language removed]. His team selection is limited by the other [Poor language removed] we have in the squad. Throw them under the bus, fine by me. They've proved under countless managers they aren't up to scratch.

I think he had to play the same starters for a couple of reasons: to assess the squad and not lose anyone in the locker room. He's only run practice for two days, and has to give the proven starters a chance to show him something and keep their place, but he also had to see what they could do while pressing and not conceding and playing back to Pickford all day. It was a lot more exciting than anything they've done under Dyche, but they were sloppy, which is to be expected. He has concrete results to work with now, both in terms of squad training and selection moving forwards, and in terms of demands he can make from the club on personnel needs.
