2024/25 David Moyes

Garner and McNeil are big misses in this team. Garner especially.

I'd say Tim has been a bigger miss. A midfielder who is box to box and passes forwards. Our midfield is just so static. When your playing 3 midfielders, you need at least one to be progressive with the ball.

Looking forward to having him back, and Garner as well of course

The players have a lot to answer for. If this was one game to go out and show the manager who you are, it was it and not one player grabbed the opportunity. I see more energy from players who are playing twice a week on a regular basis, how easy do these lads want it? Run, show for the ball, drive forward, put a tackle in. I didn't see any of that.

20 games in, 3 wins all season. 18 games left and I honestly don't know where the goals or points come from.

That was not the same tonight at all.
1, Moyes had our fullbacks going past the halfway line.
2, we looked like the home team for once.
3, we created chances, yes not great but still created them.
4, possession stats we had more.
5, it wasn't just hoof ball.
6, subs were not the same 56 min, Dyche would never do that he would wait until the 75th then pull Harrison.
he would have also swapped beto for DCL, and not play them both
I thought a lot of tonight was better as you say. And that’s two training sessions. Moments of individual crapness cost us as they often do but it’s pretty clear from his comments he’s aware of that problem already.

Yes. Mangala is not the workhorse Moyes would like and he's meh. He's for the bench when those return.

Looks and sounds like he’s got home from the chippy, smelled something a bit strange in the car, and yes, on unwrapping has found he’s been given a big bag of cat sick. He suspected as much, but was hoping to be wrong.

Only hope is Moyes identifies those woefully out of form, or just crap, and keeps them off the pitch. Dom, Harrison, Doucs. Myko keeps his place after tonight. At some point going to need to bite the bullet with Patto. If the CBs were on form to cover for him, I’d start him next match. But JB in particular has been miles off his best.

Villa are very strong with a great manager. Current position below where they could have been. We gave them the opportunity to make their chance with some almost expected stupidity and clumsiness, they created the chance well and scored clinically. More of a massive anticlimax than a big surprise.

This. I saw more desire from Armstrong, Big Jake, and Patterson when they were finally uncaged against Peterborough. You can work with that. Mold it. Grow it. Most of the regulars lack ambition and the desperation to prove themselves that comes with being forced to watch from the bench all season.

Let the air out of the ground by picking a bona fide Dyche XI.

Needed something fresh tonight, even just a few changes - Patterson, Armstrong.

The fans realised a few mins in it was the usual dross and any feel good factor was gone.

100% this!

I was so excited about going the game today, was so excited about football in general for the first time in about 3 years. Even started listening to neil warnocks autobiography (its decent tbf).

Then as i was leaving i saw the team sheet and it just sucked all of the enthusiasm out of me, i just sighed and drove to the game deflated.

We've been starved of excitement as a fan base for so long it was a terrible decision by moyes not to give us anything.

Probably one of the worst decisions ive ever seen from a new manager. To play the same team and exact formation as what got the last manager sack and also drained the life force of the fans.

Also can someone please explain to me how doucore has been consistently our worst player for over a year now and he still plays every game!?

Its a really terrible squad/group.
There will be lots of arguments about we've had worse etc etc. I dont see anything in this group that or any better or any worse than say a Mark Pembridge.

I don't know why but I read that third sentence as "our midfield is just so autistic" and I just nodded my head.
