2024/25 David Moyes

I see some people are made up we lost there, congratulations to the “told you so” brigade.

Anyway, the manager was always going to pick a similar team for his first one & especially after 2 training sessions so gobsmacked people thought it was going to be that different overnight.

We know it, the manager knows it but some of these are just incredibly bad footballers who can’t pass a ball 5 yards & last night was proof that these lot have been massively under coached for a long time.

Glad the manager is talking about the need for new players & lack of quality already here.

Ok. The slight whiff of faint optimism after the pre match presser and club interviews has been thoroughly smacked out of me. It’s a massive challenge, we have no quality and copious mentions of Dyche.

The only positive is that he looks terrified and sickened by the ineptitude going forward. Dyche would have said there was a lot about the performance he liked, always in the game, find a way to score, clarity in both boxes, moments, graaarse.

Back to telling the truth about how crap we are in that interview though. Going to be a slog unless a couple of signings hit the ground running.

The way he’s speaking, he must know players are on the way in. I pray he does, because he’s basically just said that the current players aren’t good enough!

A good passing game is mainly about supporting the player on the ball and offering him alternatives

He has seen what we all know.
His team lacks confidence.
They have been playing hoofball for months and it's obvious why looking at some of them, they can't keep hold of the ball
lack basic on field intelligence.
Harrison runs into positions that basically end up with him not beating the player, the ball either being lost, the attacking momentum lost and at best a pass to someone two foot away or the ball goes off one of there players into touch.
Doucoure runs a lot, definitely isn't a number 10 and can't control the ball or hit even the simplest of passes .
Branthwaite has got the Keane disease, even mistake ends up in the net.
Both fullbacks need changing, thought Mykolenko played OK but he isn't the answer.
Would get shut of Beto and DLC if we could and replace, both work hard but lack any real threat.
Moyes has a big job on his hands, needs new players , some injuries to clear up, McNeil, Garner and Tim would give us options and can actually play football.
The amount of times are players miss hit the ball , don't control it under any pressure and don't pick a pass is shocking, lot of that might be confidence and poor coaching.
But it needs sorting quickly.

Can't stand these interviewers, putting words into the manager's mouth with loaded questions.

Here's an example of something similar to many of the questions that get asked by the Everton social media team:

"David, Abdoulaye Doucoure was all-action out there tonight wasn't he? He really looked impressive covering the entire field, getting tackles in and supporting the attack. You've got to be delighted with that."

Instead of:

"David, what did you make of Abdoulaye Doucoure's performance out there tonight?" and letting the manager answer in his own words.
Or.... David, have you ever seen a more unskilled, heavy footed player than Doucoure?

Eyes wide open unlike dyche. He'll see what we've all been saying and hopefully switch things around and bring new player in to replace doucs, harrison and possibly Dom.

Not listed myko has he had a pretty good game, so hopefully that continues. But defo need to focus on training in some areas. I don't understand what drills they did under dyche. I mean we can't score, we can't pass, our defending was okay but at times questionable, they aren't quick and seemed unfit a lot. Hoping Moyes and Baines can get some proper training done.

Also hoping Moyes can switch things around a bit and try different things. Changing formation last night looked a bit more of a positive move. Not wanting to just accept the loss, but pushing to get one back. That's refreshing.

Definitely looks and sounds like the Pen Men like David a lot more than they liked Snothead.
