2024/25 David Moyes

I'm really stoked that he said our performance is not that good. The result matters for a club of our history. We saw the team's shortcomings very clearly yesterday, albeit a lot of them on the treatment table. We need McNeil and Garner back soon.

He should start with not playing Doucoure and DCL up front.
Doucoure uns around. That's about it. There is no other point to have him on the pitch. And the problem is he gives it away so much that his running around is pointless. He can't pass the ball or retain possession. He is as bad as I have seen for a number of years.

Just watched his interview from after the match. Thought he looked and sounded a bit stunned at how bad this lot are.
Players that are unable to make a simple pass, control the ball or score from decent opportunities.
Running around a lot is all fine, but if your crap at the basics, then your gonna struggle.
Knows he needs reinforcements, let’s hope he gets them.

They’ve had the most agricultural football forced on them for 2 years. It’s no wonder there are technical issues.

Watched his after match conference and good that he said performance wasn't good but don't want to hear him going on about dyche and his work etc etc with the players. For me hopefully after another good few days training he'll realise players like doucoure and Harrison shouldn't be starting. I thought there was an improvement on previous games against a decent villa side.

They just look lost in the attacking third. Actually think we are desperate for a 10 and a box to box midfielder with an engine. No point having crosses fired into the box to nobody.

Some signs last night of playing a bit more on the front foot which were mildly encouraging but our forward play is shockingly bad. It’s so far off PL standard it’s unbelievable.

Spot on mate.

Bored of saying it now, it’s going to take a while for the stench of Dyche to be removed after he actively coached the technique and football out of this squad.

It’s arguably Moyes biggest, toughest task - it’s become learned behaviour to be unable to pass a football or move and offer options for your teammate, they have to learn how to play with a football again - it’s been alien to them.

I saw some positives already last night and some differences after he’s had them for a few days so I’m hopeful that progression continues.

If he takes some of the terrible players like doucure, Harrison and Young out we may improve further and faster, in addition to some new faces, there’s some green shoots for me.

I think he probably knows it already. We’re seriously short of options. Armstrong and Lindstrom have to force the issue. The former is only a kid and the latter still hasn’t done enough to oust Harrison who is garbage.

There is a lot of work to do, especially from the moment we claim the ball in a good position and then to create chances. But cannot blame Moyes there, we missed 3 good chances yesterday, Doucoure and 2 DCL and this is something that doesn't come over night.

The other thing is, we got punished for 4-5x dangerous possessions losses, basically all of their chances came from them, and eventually we got punished. Surely here we need to find the balance between pressing and also defensive protection. We almost got too cocky at times.

However, we played the same eleven as under Dyche, I get the critics for that, wasn't happy either to see the line up. It was only one game, but that was a huge step forward in the general approach of what we had in recent games. It was a team willing to fight and didn't give up.

Is this Moyst fella new to footie ?

I mean did he already not see the Centre forward has checked out long ago , his replacements aren't good enough . Harrison gets more worse every week .
Our most creative player is not a left winger.
We have a geriatric at right back , a championship defender at left back.
And Doucoure deary me ,who's next job will be in the cast of Shrek , he is woeful.

You don't have to be in the building to know all this , everyone that has a modicum of knowledge of football knows this and have done for a long while.

Yet it was same as you were from the get go. I expected something different from ANY new manager coming in.
Over to you Moyst , get it changed....Pronto.

Yeah, I know a lot aren’t seeing it, but I do think we showed a good amount of improvement last night in terms of setup -though it’s going to take a while for the players to get used to it.

There’s more ability to ring out of this squad, I’m sure of that, but Moyes is right to highlight the urgency of having to add more quality this month.

It takes more than five days to change habits that embedded.

I think we’ll see more improvement against Spurs. Maybe not enough to get a result, but hopefully more signs of where we’re headed.

We played with more intent to get forward even if the end product was awful. I think Moyes was right in his presser after that we need to double or more the number of balls we’re getting in the box. If the team can keep putting balls in dangerous areas some chances will soon drop. It’s a numbers game and when you put about 2 balls in the box all game it’s not hard to realise why we hardly ever score.
