2024/25 David Moyes

Had two training sessions mate
And? Do training sessions mean he can’t pick a different team. Do they mean he can’t do different subs. Do they mean he can stand on touchlines & not make any meaningful subs/changes until 83rd minute! He’s known this was on the cards for at least a month. I’m sure he’s watched us multiple times.

I get what you're saying, but it's the team, the club we're basing it on. So EVERTON drew that last season. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it's all I've heard for months and months about everything. Constant comparisions, so why aren't we allowed to do any now?

I think there needs to be some realism and understand that the big bad wolf hasn't gone and everything will suddenly be fine. The board ruined this club and I pray that Moyesy can begin to fix things, but it's deeper than a manager.
It was comparisons to the same thing in different time points (Dyches everton last season versus this) and so I think is fair and relevant.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare last season to Everton under a new manager - it’s not the same thing.

I also don’t think anyone is of the mind that big bad scotch egg has gone so now it’s all going to be gravy.

We know the decline of the club wasn’t Dyches fault and it’s been a myriad of bad calls and shocking leadership that have got us to this point. We also know it’s going to take a lot of work from Moyes and the players to get us out, plus we need to see a real change in direction and leadership from the new owners, so that the old Everton is consigned to history and we really can “change the narrative.”

What I will say is there were some subtle, positive differences on the pitch under the new manager last night, compared to what Dyche was serving up, and that’s with only a few days with the players.

This gives me pause to hope that better results and times are ahead, on the proviso that TFG get the off field stuff sorted and we all move forward and upward.

Full quote for anyone wanting a non-bias post:

"I've only been here a couple of days and I'm nearly burnt out looking at how we can score more goals and how we can get players who can do that."
Yup. That’s called ‘quote mining’, and I’m very surprised to see someone posting such agenda filled nonsense under the name of the actual forum.

That's the spirit Davey
He wants to be careful, the owners might think he's trying to resign.

Poor get. Didn't get get the memo from fans that it was just all Sean Bloody Dyches fault and how any semi capable manager can get this team going.

Moyes knows we need players coming in.

I'd have expected him to at least try and blow smoke under the players we've got though first.

Under Moyes I want to see the following:

- Players with hurt in their eyes when they have suffered a defeat

- Players who genuinely feel the pain of defeat as much as the fans

- Players with a common cause for desiring and demanding success of one another

- Players who believe they can and will improve as a team and don't hide behind 'injuries'

- Players who understand what it is to play for this wonderful Club and our wonderful fanbase

- Players with a genuine work ethic and a positive mental attitude to succeed

I could go on but I suspect I am probably too entrenched in the bygone days of the 1960's/70's/80's when such qualities were the norm. Nowadays, 90% of ballers are just mercenaries and really don't give a thought for their employers or supporters. Essentially, they have no buy in to clubs and are just happy to take the big bucks from whoever is willing to pay them. That is why, in our case, there is greater emphasis on Moyes and the DoF to undertake due diligence on new recruits to ensure we buy players not only of quality and who can fit into whatever system he uses but who also have character and a willingness to go that extra mile to fulfill our ambitions. We've spunked way, way too much on lightweights these past few years who have brought very little - in many cases absolutely nothing - to the table and this is why we find ourselves in this seemingly annual predicament.

So now Davey, it's over to you. No pressure!
