Disciplinarian and hard worker (which we needed after the clown Smith); but he hung around like a bad smell after his efforts to put a team together were flushed away in the summer of 2009 and the failure to secure more funds and the firesale that took place thereafter. He was marking time from that point on and content with respectability. He had no stomach for the battle with the board that needed to be had (and still meeds to be had). He was marking time here as a cantankerous, uninspired, plodder with a safe pair of hands.

All in all, we're now well shut. If he does well at United I'll be astounded. He wont know what's hit him there. If he couldn't handle expectation here he's going to be annihilated there.

So he hasn't cared since 2009 and just sat back and took the money without trying? Is that roughly what your saying here?

Wish him all the best, I've give him stick over the years, but you can't fault what the man has achieved overall.

I just wish he wasn't leaving now seeing the list of names being drawn up for his replacement.

Sums it up for me.

I'd take another decade of being nearly men than have some of the names being branded.

I've not been a fan of some of the things he's done when it came to the crunch of success, he had his flaws, and shouldve pushed the board to the wire when it mattered.

But overall, for about 80% of his tenure it's was all about rebuilding this great club when I think about it.

Compared to what the team was when he came, to what we have now, I've nothing but respect and gratitude for it.

We're here today fuming about not winning this, not qualifying for that. But end of the day, he put us there. Something 11 years ago we all thought we'd not see.

Good luck. But it's about the future now.

The next manager puts anywhere near as much graft, determination, and respect Moyes had for the club, we'll be okay.

Cheers and good luck to the man, impossible job where he's gone in my opinion, how do you replace Sir Alex?

Overall has done a really good job for the club, couldn't take us to the next level (who's fault that is is always up for debate on this site!), but has given us a good place to challenge from with a new manager with fresh ideas.

????

you'd take another 10 years of moyes finishing 6th/7th with no silverware over someone like lennon winning us a couple of shiny's?

Never forget that the man dug us out of eternal relegation fodder to a top team. He wasn't perfect but were it not for him we might well be scrapping it out with the likes of Forest and Sheff Wednesday

That's a pretty liberal interpretation of the word "eternal".

FFS catch a grip.

He was an average manager during his time here and most United fans I know are fearing the worst.

Thank you David Moyes but it was time for a change.

Negative substitutions and tactics finally wore me out.

Whilst he may not have made everton, we certainly wouldn't be in the better, healthier position we are in now if it wasnt for him.
