Decade discussion: The 1970s

You only had one decent pair of kecks
Adidas kick ,cheapest, so everyone had.
Khaki canvas
Lois and Lee jeans.
Black levis canvas.
College shoes.
Kicker boots ,really expensive.
Baseball boots...not converse.
Kids often wearing school uniform to play out in,nothing else .
Tough times, definitely, but just got on with it.

Packs of wild dogs roaming the streets causing mayhem.

People just let their dogs out in the morning. The dogs would then band together, go on the rampage, then go home for their tea.

We had an Irish Setter, that used to get let every morning, she knew where every butchers in a five mile radius and would visit everyone, to see what she could have off. We`d get local butchers knocking on our door, asking for payment for all the stuff she`d robbed.

Imagine letting a pedigree dog out for the day now and expecting it to ever see it again lol

The massive massive difference then, was there was so much less traffic on the roads.

We had natural selection in the 70’s. Only the ugly/smart kids survived.
Nowadays the thick/pretty kids make it through to get their trust funds. Chaos, Idiocracy!

My school years. Lots of problems and difficulties, obviously. Many caused by OPEC oil quotas and other economic problems.

My main memories, though, are of all the open spaces we had to play in and all the time we spent playing out in them.

For all its faults, I am glad I grew up then rather than now. I genuinely pity kids today ...
