Confirmed Signing Dele Alli

Dele Ali is no one's equivalent to Tosun or Bolassie - be serious.

Ali was an exceptional player who has gone badly off the boil - everyone can see that's a risk, but he's proven. Tosun and Bolassie were established average players who could never be good if they played a million years of football.

Ali was never exceptional … 67 goals in 230 odd games is not exceptional… he plays as a midfielder like Cahill used to… basically as a second striker but without all the defensive qualities that Cahill had in our own box

English, 25 year old and 2.5 year deal (sensible deal if all works out) and we all know there is a footballer in there and you just don’t lose that talent over night!
I think he will come good, has had a few years being a spoilt teen so hopefully now of age and matured!
Time to put the work in Alli and prove people wrong!!!

Actually Alli's arrival is bad news for de Beek, he may get sidelined now at times. Which is an awful news ? We didn't need someone else in Alli's position imo. We should have addressed other areas.

I think the new environment will really help him. Not just inside the club with a new setup, new players, new staff, new routines but also being up North. Won't have the same clubs and bars and whatever he is used to down there and hopefully not all the same people around his personal life. Fresh start.

A well run business should always budget for the worst case scenario (within reason). In our situation relegation is definitely within reason, so yes we should be very aware of that when budgeting.

True that. Show me a mid level premier league club that is prepared for relegation however. I would say you need to take risks and invest to stay at that level.

That same dynamic is probably a large part of why inevitably relegation is the spectre it is.

Its about the potential of the player mate for me, he seems someone who needs to have that manager who is fully behind him, and really this is the first time since Pocch he has that.

The Alli of 22 talent wise but with the experience of having crashed before getting it back, for me that's why it's exciting.

It may not happen, but by God it's good to at least have a player who could. (Same way Gray has been the second best thing this season after Gordon)

I also think you look at peoples raw materials.

Gray has always been very quick and a great ball carrier. He needed a team where he was just put in to play, and probably made to feel like the main man (like he wasnt at Leicester with Vardy, Mahrez). But you have Grays pace, you always have a chance.

Alli is quick, but hes also 6 ft 2 and a good finisher. Honestly his goal at Goodison a few years back, where he takes it down on his chest, in mid air, and volleys it in on the way down, was one of the best goals I've seen.

At the age of 20 he scored 17 league goals (without penalties). Alex Ferguson told Mourinho he wanted him at United over any player. At that time he and Kane were discussed interchangeably on ability.

It went wrong after that. But at his core, 6 ft 2, good with his feet, powerful, quick, a good finisher-theres lots to work with. Seems to genuinely like Lampard too and Lampard likes him which doesnt seem to be the case with Mourinho, or briefly Conte.

I think he was coasting and bored at Tottenham. I think Lampard in the way he is, a bit like Moyes was, will model to people what hard work is. Forget even technical stuff he can show people, he will model them hard work. I'm hoping he just needed a move and a change. It happens a lot. You get comfortable somewhere and learn to do "just enough". He has a big point to prove here.

I see Gray mentioned, and I love Gray, but honestly Alli is another level up if he gets his head right.
