We never learn. that is all needs to be said. Never ending offering or trying to give contracts to players that should not be here. all we need now is Holgate and Keane to be offered new deals

We haven't actually offered anything though. Nothing really wrong with keeping all your options open.

He’s been around the squad and Dyche and his team for a year

I trust their opinion over whether he has anything to offer after he’s overcome his issues and injuries over my own

Sounds absolutely mad to us on the outside that we’re doing anything more than kindly letting him use our facilities but if we are actually thinking of getting him in the squad then he must have shown something. Dyche is the last person to show interest in anyone not giving 100%

We seem to be in the process of trying or making what looks like will be an offer. No need to try and sort any terms out with Spurs etc. He should not be here at Everton, Other than us doing the right thing and helping him out while he could go somewhere else. I will never stop saying it, but these deals if it happens end up causing us problems in the long run.

This is kind of how I see it. In order for any deal to happen at all the following things will have to happen:

Professional fitness people will have to assess his fitness for playing top flight football.
Professional coaches will have to assess his current ability to play top flight football.
Professional lawyers and negotiators will have to discuss and assess his contract situation and the deal with Spurs.
Professional finance people will have to assess the terms and value of the deal.

I think it's highly unlikely all those people ultimately sign off on any deal and if they do I don't think it will be out of charity. But if they do then I'll back their judgement on a situation all of them will know much more about than I do.

You do realise this is an Everton forum?

Personally I don't think Dele should be given a penny more by Everton.

However. What I find strange however is that the supposed "contract clause" is certainly not legal, even if all three parties signed up to it.
Restraint of trade clauses (which this clearly is for Dele) are pretty much unenforceable and have been for decades. They only have slight weight if there are commercially sensitive issues, none here.

Dele himself could easily claim this even without citing his mental health issues documented over the last few years.

Pay as you play only though, even if Spurs get the bums rush.

This is what I’ve been saying. If Dyche and thelwell are trying to sign him again, it’s entirely because they believe they can get something out of him and that he has something to offer the team. It’s not for sentimentality.

The fact that this guy is being considered for a new deal , just reminds me that it's still the same Everton.

So confused as to why this is even still a conversation.

He’s had enough money out of the club for doing nothing. If they re-sign him I’ll be seriously amazed.
He's one of the family, part of the furniture.

After the last game at Goodison while folk are clamouring for their seat, a brick, a piece of turf, I'll be taking Dele home to put on my mantelpiece.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the Friedkin Group board room when the idea to resign Alli was pitched 😂
Probably all looking at each dumbfounded and asking if it’s a serious question.

What we need is a real specialist for this situation.

Suppose we should just trust club staff on this one.

If he does prove himself then I wouldn't mind him back - on reasonable terms only though. Still can't see it happening anyway though.

It isn't a "restraint of trade". He is free to sign to any other club.

It is a commercial arrangement between Everton and Spurs via his transfer agreement that is the cause.

As for saying it's "not legal", his trade isn't being restrained. It is if Everton want to sign him and want him to play 20 games we have to pay out millions. As we originally agreed with Spurs to do so.

You will get nowhere whinging "restraint of trade". As he can sign for any other club BUT Everton, without a fee.
