The days are gone for me where you can pick up players like Lescott, Baines, Jags, Cahill for £2-£5 million punts.

They would all be touted at £15-20 million minimum now.

They are there if the scouting network does it's job. Olise only £8m , now I realise he had a release clause but a lot do abroad. That's the same sort of punt I'd like to see. Must be better players in the championship that offer better value than AT and DG.

Agree in terms of previous windows mate but we really dont know what FFP restrictions we are currently working under.

If bringing in 3-4 starting 11 players of good quality means we can only afford Gray and Townsend for £1.5 million and not Olise for £8 million then we have to trust the club they know the financial situation much more than us.

I'd trust them more if I didn't know for a fact those players are average at best for the Prem but we have Walsh to thank.

Until this summer you haven't trusted the club at all.

I still have lingering doubts but ultimately they ain't signing freebies and cheap players for the fun of it when windows prior we have been spending like Drunken Sailors...

Grey a good signing but Townsend rubbish

I think you may be surprised by him.

He is being signed as a squad player, certainly not as a regular starter unless he can force himself into the team.

I think he is a player that can come on for the last twenty minutes and help influence a game, I expect his wages are modest.

Would I have paid money to sign him... no.
Is it a risky expensive signing... no.
He could be useless but is just as likely to have an impact to at least justify the signing.

I never trusted Kenwright for one second and still don't now however Usmanov and Moshiri are trying their best - they've spent a lot of money on players and are building us a top class stadium.

Not their fault Walsh and Brands have knackered us FFP wise. Was always going to come 1-2 years of reduced spending to balance the books.
