Of course he/Usmanov hired the managers - but if you believe he would go against Ancelotti, Kenwright and the CEO's wishes to give Brands a new deal you're deluded.

Hi Bill, me and Mr Usmanov have been talking. Even though we’ve invest the best part of £600m, we’d still like you to run the business and make all the important decisions even though we’ve reduced your shareholding down to 1.7%

I think delusion is you putting 2+2 together and getting 128. It’s utterly embarrassing

We are on about BK forcing Mosh to keep Brands (in your head) nothing to do with Carlo

Superstar manager wants Brands to stay

Chairman who oversees footballing matter wants Brands to stay

Club CEO wants Brands to stay

Moshiri was never going to get rid and risk the Superstar manager getting miffed and the CEO/Chairman both unhappy.

Usmanov/Moshiri aint daft they'll know money has been wasted but unfortunately the timing of his renewal was then and not say 12 months down the line as I think Benitez would be blunt and say "this fella is a turkey" and with Usmanovs Nephew now also on the board I think he would have been booted in those circumstances.

The money in question that may have been wasted is more or less chump change, in comparison to the overall budget.

Continuity is an easy call as a consequence.

I've slept on it and will be content with these signings if....

They are meant as squad fillers and not starting 11.

High quality players are also brought in for their (and other) positions.

The previous deadwood earning high wages are moved out permanently and with extreme prejudice.

If all criteria are satisfied, they are welcome.

Pretty much the same. They're cheap, bring some pace and directness which we have almost zero of and they can't be any worse than the squad players we've had to put up with recently

And as we're learning from past mistakes with contract lengths it's barely even a gamble
